They actually filmed the race instead of booth camera of commentators talking about themselves to each other half the race meanwhile not showing you what is going on until one yells “there’s crash!!!!” Then the camera is switched to a track camera after it already occurred 😂

Going to be a disaster if the track surface comes apart. Love that old track but the surface isnt only old its old and wasnt taken care of for YEARS. Hoping for the best, waiting for the worst. Will know more after the truck race i guess.

@@philsonnenberg6092 The asphalt is so rough it eats the tires up, so they have trouble accelerating full throttle. Should be fine. They spin more than dig into the old asphalt. Should be perfect through this weekend. Also, they could make millions selling 1 square foot pieces of this asphalt if they decide to repave it.

@@ebrowntaylor1 I’m so glad there so back there people and residents missed the north wilksboro so much you know the late Burton Smith destroy and abandoned north wilksboro but dale jr and other came to rescue and revive remodel and made it look old school again well haulers are all there time to re party 🎊

Seeing Jr. Drive that 3 sundrop is such an amazing sight. North Wilkesboro is equivalent to playing at Lambeau field in Green Bay. So much history there and must be preserved

So good to finally see one of my wishes come true! I took my family there while on vacation from California and actually took a tour around the place about ten years ago and the “caretaker” of the place at the time saw us roll up and he not only spoke with me but after telling him how much I used to love to watch the racing from there he took time out of his day to show us around (very nice of him) at the time I had no idea that SMI owned it because I have a shop at another SMI track so needless to say I figured out why the track went away when I had heard that SMI owned it! Very happy that a guy like Jr stepped with sim racing and scanned the place to get the ball rolling to get it to this point and now my dreams have come true and Nascar will once again Race there!

We are from FL and vacationed every year for Christmas near the track and always passed it and gawked at it. One time my dad finally said F it and drove in and we met the same man you probably did and he took us on a whole tour as well. I was probably 10-11 but I remember sitting in the old grandstands looking at the track and I could somehow imagine cars still going around it. It was such a cool experience

Butter bean!!!!! Watched this live…so much better then live Nascar productions. Very few commercial breaks and only when nothing was happening. The two announcers were fantastic as well.

Anyone who knows of an old school race fan, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell them about THIS series! We might actually get our "OLD SCHOOL RACING" BACK!!!! NASCAR has turned there backs on the "casual fan" its time to show THEM who the REAL BOSS IS!!!! I love this racing! Thanks to Jr Burton an the other owners 🙇🏻

Hopefully this becomes a normal thing in North Wilkesboro, all the festivities then the all-star race it's perfect. 1 points race at North Wilkesboro All-star race North Wilkesboro World 600 in Charlotte after Can't beat those 3 weeks, plus Darlington the week before all that lol good times to be an Oval fan

That track renovation looks amazing. Finally after over 25 years of trying to get cup cars back on the track they will be again 😎. It won’t be the last time either because they didn’t invest all that money in the place to just have a nascar series there just one time

Why would anyone watch a NASCAR Cup or Xfinity Series race on a NASCAR mile and a half or larger track, with all of the infighting, name calling and lousy racing in those two series, when here is one of the premier racetracks from years gone by and some of the best racing I've seen in a LONG time with these Late Models. Drivers and teams that love racing more than they love the money they can get for racing. This is what REAL racing is all about.

Seems like qualifying means everything in a race like this. Very few guys seemed to move up. I don't know the cars so maybe they did but it sure didn't look like it! That 03 moved around amongst the leaders all race though, it seemed.

This racing is fantastic. Leaving North Wilkesboro was one the biggest and greediest mistakes NASCAR every made IMO.

It wasn't NASCAR per say - it was Burton Smith who purchased the track for the the venue ( the race date).

Nice to see racing there. That was not a great race. It’s a one lane track, no one passed on the outside. Leaders had trouble with passing lapped cars on the outside. Let’s see if it widens out during the truck race Friday night.

Don’t forget Brutton Smith who was behind closing it down because (my opinion) it was competition for Charlotte! That’s been his M.O. when he has a major track he goes around and buys out the smaller local tracks and then closes them so racers and fans have to go to his bigger facilities where he can stick it to them, look it up he’s done it time and again! If wasn’t for Jr’s popularity and opinion none of this would have happened and that’s a fact and now Marcus Smith wants to come out looking like some great hero because he brought back a track that his dad closed down to begin with!

i really thought this track was gunna be less of a follow the leader type than it showed here. Kinda sucks but im all for it regardless, One of the best tracks in the world. If it really lives up to the hype and keeps going im sure a repave will happen and that might change some lines up

I thought the new owner was having the NW track repaved? It looks terrible with all the asphalt patch work. When they said they were keeping it old school they didn't lie. I'm disappointed but who am I. I just don't get how they spend millions on restoring the infield with brand new black paving and leave the track looking like sh*t. This is a huge deal getting nascar to even consider bringing races back to NW speedway so why not put your best foot forward and have atleast the track itself looking great and racing great. Or maybe they did repave it and it's just not holding up well and have had to fill alot of cracks with tar. Just seems odd to me that it looks that bad for the Allstar race.

They were going to but the drivers wanted the old pavement to stay. Just like California it was Nascar and drivers decided. I think it looks great. But some people have to complain about everything. You won't satisfy everyone I guess. Lol

New pavement doesn’t make a track better other than for cosmetics. Often times new pavement makes for worse racing than old pavement does but it seems some people are more concerned with cosmetics 🥴
