Many are asking what size foot pegs. They are the crf150 version through link in description.

So, when you hit your link, several come up for different brand motos, then you go find Honda, under the 150, there are 2 choices, the CRF150R which I ordered & def don't fit, the other choice is the CRF150F, is that what you ordered? was any modifying involved? The link is confusing, now I've got to return them. Def appreciate all the mods info though!

I'm accustomed to the smaller foot pegs. I've barked my shins often enough on foot pegs when in technical terrain (usually steep, rocky slopes), those big spiky platforms are *scary*!

I’m 76 and been riding for over 50 years. My first bike was a Harley Electra Glide. Most of the many bikes I’ve owned have in fact been Harley’s with a smattering of Hondas and B M W s. Now I’m old and would like a small on and off road bike to ride when a Harley just doesn’t fit. That’s why I’m interested in this bike.

@@dontpanic4295 My mom bought one and doesn't like it much. She's giving it to me with the rest of payments, which were basically nothing as is and I love it. I'm a liter bike guy and these little things are a blast. Gonna just pay the rest of it off immediately and keep it forever. Seems like a venerable replacement for my trail 110. Ironically, she replaced it with the new Trail 125 already. I agree, go get one if it's in your budget. Easy to work on too.

I love this bike. Mine is a 2015 model. Over time, I made some performance and safety modes to cater my needs. I've changed the handlebars to protaper fuzion handle bar and risers, installed some barkbuster full on handguards, upgraded to 18/21 rims and slapped them with shinko 705s, changed the chain to 520 and sprockets 13T front, 40T rear. Installed some skid plates, crash guards and fork guards. Changed all.lights to LED. Upgraded the stator, intergrated all accessory switches in one handleswitch, intalled mini-driving lights and loudhorns. Overall, this thing is ready for emergency or be a bugout bike. Install some GPS, tank bags, saddle bags and some light survival essentials, then you can disappear and regroup away from chaos.

Thanks for the way you review this bike! So many reviews of motorcycles complain about what a bike can't do instead of focusing on what the bike actually is and what it capabilities are. Very well said ..."understand and appreciate what you are buying".

I also have a black one. I have had 150cc bikes in the past, so was well aware of what performance is like. I can cruise along at 45-50 mph comfortably, and run 55-60, if I have to keep up with traffic. I live in rural Iowa and have lots of county blacktop roads and gravel to ride. SxS and 4 wheelers are highway legal here, if the have lights. They have a 35mph speed limit, so I am not the slowest person on the back roads. I usually fill up about 150 miles and put in less than 2 gallons. Really fun to ride on gravel. Great review!

I'm over in council bluffs and have a similar experience with it. Bike tops out around 60 and get roughly 150 miles before it hits the reserve. I believe most of the claims on 350 miles per tank or 70 mph are from owners at lower elevation.

Good review. I'm not much of a 'dirt' guy but wanted a dual sport. This is bike 12 (currently). I also have a 21 honda trail which i like, but lets be honest, its a tarted up super cub. Also, small, but i dig it. I can see why people like to compare, but, this is a very different experience between the 2. the trail to me, is good for hauling stuff, easy ride, etc. this is more comfortable, surprisingly good ergonomics & def more capable short run 2-up. 99% of my riding is in town on secondary roads, or the rural sc roads. the day after i bought mine, i did 20 miles on back roads to break it in, was not fatigued, etc. the midrange performance was lacking,, and 5th gear was a bit too low gearing. I tired a 16 t up front, didn't like it, but had 'rebel gears' do a 51t for the rear w the stock 17 up front and its perfect. I got a white one, would def recommend. I paid 3670 or so out the door at generation 3 powersports in florence, sc. (2 hours away) the local dealer 1 mile from the house wanted 4765 otd, and i'll never go in there again after that last debacle. (theres a lot more to it than that). everyone ive let ride the 150 has liked it, def recommend. and impressed w the review, its spot on.

Just hit 172 miles on the first tank when the bike abruptly died as it ran out of gas, no warning, but I was pegged on a busy 3-mile long bridge in traffic.Pucker factor was high. Switched to reserve on the shoulder and it started after some reluctance. Definitely my only negative experience in the first couple hundred miles. Was used to my KLR sputtering to give me a heads up to throw the petcock over; no such warning on the XR. So from now on, I will fill up around 160 and just avoid the issue. Overall, a fun and capable little beast. Handles like a dream w/great stock tires.
@MichaelWhite-cx4ho
@MichaelWhite-cx4ho Жыл бұрын
A similar thing happened to me at around 200 miles, but I did have warning in terms of sputtering/hesitation. Wasn't sure what was going on, but reaching down and switching to reserve was the only move I could think of in that situation. Luckily, gas turned out to be the issue. I realized afterward that I was an ass to ASSume the dealer had topped off the 2.8 gallon tank. I did, and I will report back with my mpg when I fill it again. I will not ASSume again that I have at least 250 miles given Honda's claim of 124 mpg and a 2.8 gallon tank! BTW, I sold cars for a huge, high volume dealer back in the early 90's, and we always gave the customers a full tank with their purchase. I think it's a good, cheap practice that helps create happy customers and repeat business and referrals. UPDATE: I have since come to learn that the reserve on the xr150l is .9 gallons! That means you have 1.9 to 2.0 gallons to consume before needing to switch to reserve. You should be able to make 175 to 200 before needing to switch to reserve for another 75+. I may have been an ASS once again to ASSume the dealer didn't completely fill the tank. I was just lame and started riding before really getting to know the bike. Just glad I didn't end up "stranding" myself only to find out later that I had 100 miles or so of reserve.

I was here 2-3 months ago & I like this little bike..... I've learned about some things one can do to make it a little stronger but it is a 150cc at the end of the day & it makes no sense to spend too much to try and get the small amount you'd get? That said I also saw that the suspension isn't adjustable but I found out that the same frame is used on at least 1 of Honda's moto-cross bikes & the front forks(inverted) can be swapped out, fits right in & it will give you a lot more control/handling if you want it? A guy who lives in S.America shared the bike(s) that you might look for to have suspension and the front wheel as well. Thanks for the videos, peace

It really bugs me to listen as you call this motorcycle an "entry level" or "first" or "beginner's" model. I've known many whose first bikes were Harley Duo Glides. What you claim is trendy but incorrect. I'm going to buy one. I'm in my eighties now and have many decades of riding behind me. I just want a small bike to zip around town on and that get's good mileage and is easy and fun to maintain. The 150 is perfect for my needs but I am hardly a beginner. I want to be the only one in my groUp that drives to the senior center lunch on a Honda instead of driving a Buick. And.... I can easily pay cash for this little thing. Now if I can only figure out a way to attach my walker on the rack.

I completely agree . I purchased the Honda Navi last year and did 2400klms. Loved every second , like I tell people if you can ride a bicycle the Navi is easier , When I saw the new XR150L I bought it immediately this bike has a nice balance of so many needs like the wieght/low , comfortable/seat/riding position, reliable/low maintenance/low operating cost , dual sport/go anywhere, rear rack/tail bag and tank bag ready. The only add ons are new pegs/cheap upgrade , new Led headlight/also cheap/modern look/brighter , folding Tusk shifter , new 115 jet/lean at below 2000ft./better midrange and top end torque , after 1600klms to 2000klms break-in this great engine just purrs with Honda pride.

On the top speed topic: I rented a Benelli BN125 naked sport bike in Portugal (Açores), and I can say that it was definitely geared to be able to do an absolute peak speed of about 125KPH, but it is an eternity to reach that. Treat bikes this small as if they should do 55mph.

I owned the XR150L for 3 months. It was a fun ride. I still own a CRF250L & 2xCRF230L and was seriously looking at adding another XR150L to the stable for my Niece. However, a lightly used 08/09 CRF230L for around $3k makes a lot more sense. Lighter weight (268 vs 282), lower seat height (32”vs 33”), 6 speed vs 5 & more hp (19 vs 13) For me I’d like to see Honda transform the CRF250F into a street-legal XR250L 👍

The Honda costs a few hundred more, but you'd get dealer support moreso than with a no-name Chinese mail order bike. The upshot: I agree with everything you say about the fun of taking a light, small-displacement motorcycle off the beaten path at a slightly more sedate pace.

They'll stop calling that thing small or tiny if you change the wheel config from 19 front & 17 rear, into 21 front & 18 rear, just like a formal trail bike. That will dramatically increase seat height, top-speed, and overall looks. Check youtube videos of this 6'6" (2m) tall brit promoting his business in vietnam called Tigit. He's got good reviews about the XR150L, and the modified bike looks okay with him on it. Here in PH, XR150L owners do that 21"/18" mod all the time. And to avoid maxing out the suspensions we change the stock front fender with something that is not stooping like the stock one (CRF front fender), and change the suspensions with an inch or 2-inch longer ones, with a little bit of pre-tension, whichever we could handle. I am almost as tall as you (181cm), and the time I rode one, I could still touch both of my feet, flat on the ground, but my legs a bit stretched.

When I was looking for a enduro (off-road and on road) bike, this was one of them I researched! I already have a 2022 Honda crf 125f and a 2007 Honda 919, so why not this one! The answer is the price of almost 3 grand and what I would be getting: carburetor, 150 cc engine, rear drum brake, And last but not least dealer setup, taxes, tags, which bring the price up to about 3600 OTD! Then I came across a chinese bike called the Lifan KPX 250 that I could get out the door , all around disc brakes, fuel injection, 2 year engine warranty for the price of 3300 from Venom motorsports of Texas!. Guess which one I went with!

Probably a bunch of good deals on lightly used DR200’s though…just thinking about how dealers are price gouging these new bikes. I’d also recommend a Yamaha XT225 or XT250. Might seem like a lot more bike but it definitely isn’t. They only like to do about 60mph or so too and I believe they have a 32” seat height. 5 speed as well, but the newer ones are fuel injected so no messing with a carb. Just some bikes to consider. Also, a Kawasaki KLX230 hits another sweet spot…fuel injected, 6 speed, dual disc brakes, air cooled, low seat height…some good deals out there on preowned ones, for those that felt the need to get the larger/heavier/more complex KLX300.

I just hit 600 miles on mine, if you want to ride on a lot of steep hills, you're gonna need to regear/change rear tire size. It's a 5 speed geared to hit about 70mph max downhill, 60-65mph on flat road, so the torque is a little lower than if it were geared more like a dirt bike.

It’s a dual sport. If you want to climb steep hills you will need more displacement. I’ve been riding 50 + years and love this bike. Great starter bike. Build your skills with it and then move on to something bigger.

Hey buddy. Thanks for the video. What is a proper out the door price at a"stealer ship" I live in a city where there us a monopoly on bikes. One group owns all the dealerships. 3xcept a rogue Polaris store and a Polaris yamaha dealership just out of town. They won't hudge on. Price on any bike ever. Cost plus freight plus set up plus tt&l . Best out the door price I can get is 4300 new

Interesting to note: For only 9 pounds more, you can get a Yamaha XT250 (282 vs 291 lb wet). The XT250 has the same seat height and same wheelbase, but it's fuel injected, has bigger wheels (better for off-road), and has higher ground clearance. Of course it's also $5300. But it points to the generally lower quality of the XR150L, meaning use of heavier materials. Thanks for the video.

I just got one. I wanted white but had to settle for black just to get one. It's quieter than my Monkey. In my first tank of gas I got 184 miles before reserve, the second and third tank I got 192. I think if I don't peg it out I can break 200 miles. I'm averaging about 95 mpg now (first tank was 87 mpg) but it might see 100 mpg as it gets more broken in, but it will never see the 124 mpg that honda claims. the speedometer is 5 mph off so when I'm doing 50 on this I'm really doing 55.

@@philipcloutier2553 You are probably right. But if you use the gps on your phone you'll see how much it's off. It's off about 2 mph at 30, 3 mph at 35, 4 mph at 40, and the rest of the way up it's off about 5 mph. No, if you're 5 mph over the limit, you probably won't get a ticket. But if the speed limit is 45 and you like always go 5 mph over the limit then you will be going 10 mph over the limit in the real world and yes you can get a ticket at that speed!

Have a black 2022 model in the Philippines. 17 months old 17100 km. All ignition system, switch and relay changed under warranty. Problems started after 3 month than started to change one by one under warranty which took more than a year with the waiting for the parts. Front break is weak and making a noise since day 1 dealer cannot fix it (already reassembled, cleaned still the same) but only in rain it smooth and strong. Noone can tell me what should be the case. (I am not a mechanic.) Just this weak both the carburetor gasket and the engine head gasket started to leak. All the panels are in a different angle not properly assemblied in China. Rust eating it up since day 1. Very low quality paint and weldings on the frame. Whatever solution I tried cannot stop the rust especially in this humid hot wet climate. I am 6.7 tall 107 kg but still can fit with my wife in the back. Actually this is the only bike what I can use here with my height. We often using this bike on rough road steep uphills but it can handle it. Slowly but surely. The torque is good. Even in the biggest heat need full choke and the engine keep stalling even with that. Tires are still stock. Chain just adjusted 2 weeks ago still stock. Oil change after every 1200 km. Spark plug change after every 8000 km. It would be a great bike if they assembly it properly in China. No other option for duo sport bike in the Philippines. Kawasaki KLX is too small, Yamaha XTZ is 125 and very small too.

The issue is that dealers will be charging half the price of the bike in fees to get you out the door. I'm lucky I got a great deal on my new XT250 as a leftover. I"m also not sure I would take this over a trail 125....but the price is right.

Honda had a CRF-230-L back in the 2009. That bike is very similar to the XR150-L except much bigger engine. I am very surprised there is so much interest in the XR150-L. But it has a smaller engine and weighs about the same. There was not much interest in the CRF-230-L back in the day. I am so surprise Honda bought the XR-150-L to the USA.

The dealer is in business to make a profit no less . And look at it this way . The dealer only gets a limited number of these bike per year . I rode mine all summer and never came across one other XR150L . So as the new kid sort of (65yrs.) even the teenagers want to know about this great bike . Surprisingly it generated lots of intrest by women as most can lift this light wieght after a tip over . I told them the ride is oh so plush as well the seat is second to only the best . I went to many bike nights . And only I had one . 50,000+ Asian and South Americans can't be wrong .
