A Brighter Summer Day is an incredible film, great shout out. The runtime can definitely be scary to some people, but it's so worth it

Yi Yi is my favourite film, and everything else I’ve seen from him is in some way a masterpiece. A Brighter Summer Day might be the most powerful experience I’ve had watching anything.

A Brighter Summer Day is Taiwanese*, great discussion though - so glad you decided to keep the show going! My favourite recent releases are probably Return to Seoul, Koreeda's Monster (my favourite director working today probably) and I just saw and loved Killers of the Flower Moon.

I actually haven't gotten over 300 movies since pre--pandemic. I think I got to around 175 or 180 this year.

Hardly saw any new films or TV but my favourite film was EASILY Happy Hour (by the director of Drive My Car). It was absolutely incredible. One of the best films I've ever seen.

Blackberry and Past Lives are tied for my favorite movie of 2023. Shout out to Dream Scenario for being super funny, May December, I like movies, sick of myself, David finchers the killer, copenhagen cowboy by nicolas winding refn, V/H/S85.
