Great video! I know understand the term Aging Hipster so much better now! Very informative! That said this looks like just a great commuter vehicle. I'm put the Ionic as my personal favourite but that's just because I like the aesthetic and I wouldn't turn my nose up at any of them. Honestly though this is a great entry level EV and I'm glad they are pushing towards affordability. It's rather curious that the heat pump is extra because how do you warm your vehicle if you don't have a heat pump? I guess it's one of those mandatory extras that you get here in Canada, just like how a block heater is an add with some dealerships. I'm also curious how the slider function to turn the heat up works when the car is cold vs when it is already warm. Most touch screens I know of don't like to be cold. And finally are you able to remotely warm up the vehicle with an app or something similar to how a remote start works on ICE models?

Great comment. Someone watched the whole review. :) The price point is remarkable. It’s so competitive even with Ford and Tesla dropping their prices. You can really dumb down the car and pay very little for an EV vehicle. The heat pump used to be standard in the 21 and 22, but VW decided to make it an option. However, now that it’s an option, VW is having trouble suppling parts for it so it is temporarily on hold for the ID.4. We will see what happens on the future, but it is handy to recoup some of that lost battery power on a cold day. Lastly, you can warm your ID.4 up using Volkswagens Car Net system. When it’s plugged in you can make sure it’s roasting before you get in without losing a percentage of battery power. Thanks so much for your loyalty and for watching and commenting. Nice review, by far my favorite EV, i went In a ev6, I hate it because I’m 6 foot and I felt claustrophobic, my head was touching the roof and couldn’t find the right comfortable seat settings for me. The ID 4 looks like a real car not coming from the future, drive like a car and is actually an SUV. The only one thing I would have liked for our canadian winters is a higher ground clearance.

Great point. It looks like a regular car that happens to be electric as opposed to an obvious EV that looks outlandish. Ground clearance is nice, but it seems the EV SUV is more for the convenience of size rather than engaging in a lot of outdoor activities. Thanks so much for watching. Thanks so much. This particular model was the 82kwh AWD with the roof package, wheel package and heat pump. No Statement Package. Great question.

I'm torm between the ID4 and Mitsubishi phev..(I owned 2020 but sold it back during the hike lol) I seen both of your reviews and I'm still not sure which I should choose... Range anxiety is real I live in NY and I feel the ID 4 is going to improve inthe next few years or new EV are coming out soon... But the tax rebate makes it very enticing.

We totally understand range anxiety. Especially in the cold. VW is planning to offer software updates on later models that will help with creating better range. How much, who knows. For now, the Outlander might be the better choice. Drive it until there are more options and then make a choice. Trust us, we are your KZfaq Uncles. ;)

What’s better for longevity, LG battery or Sk battery ?

David, great question! The LG and SK On battery issue is so new that the longevity test isn't official. The good news is there is zero impact on range regardless of what battery you get. The horsepower and torque also remains the same regardless of the battery. The only difference is the Peak DC acceptance rate is 135kW for the LG and 170kW for the SK On. What does this mean? Basically the LG battery will take roughly 6 minutes longer to charge on a DC Fast Charger when going from 10 to 80%. We hope this helps shed some light on the battery differences. About software and glitchs .. You mentioned that updates will come. Since you already tested 2021 .. did those 2021 model got a proper updates to its glitches ? And if yes, why we still can find even little glitches in 2023 model

Thanks for watching. Great question. Software updates are continuous. The 23 compared to the 21 offers big changes in terms of speed of the screen and less glitches. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t ever be glitches. So it’s important to remember this that when there are issues with the software, there will be a software update some time in the future. VW has even dedicated a button on the screen for software updates. Thanks for watching.

Umm VW took away most of the stuff you mentioned, order people got emails telling them that and increase in price. 😂no heat pump, lots of those goodies are gone. But maybe they fixed the software? I was going to order but not now.

Thanks for watching. VW did temporarily take away the heat pump for now, but it isn’t forever. In Canada there was a price increase of $2500 recently as costs have gone up. It still qualifies for the federal rebate of $5000. The other goodies and such mentioned are certainly still available. The heat pump is just on a temporary hold. The good news is that the long awaited software update should be coming out soon for most VWs using their new display screens. Hopefully this helps clear things up. Thanks so much.

@@HoodSlappersOfficial thanks for the reply I’ve been keeping track. Facebook has a group of iD4 waiters. Many have got emails recently about changes to their order. Many aren’t happy. Locations like mine a heat pump is a must, where it can be 40C to -40C. VW has turned me off. The Electrify Canada subsidiary isn’t anywhere I can find either. Im more worried about the charging networks rip off for energy, Slow charging with almost no real working 350kw charging units. It sucks.
