Update: Richard Giedosh, the former owner of 951 W. Holly St., has been charged with felonies of arson (three counts), causing or risking catastrophe and criminal mischief for a fire that destroyed the property shortly before noon on Jan. 30. Giedosh was on probation at the time of the fire
During the investigation, Giedosh admitted he was inside the residence on West Holly Street on Jan. 30. Giedosh told police he lit a fire in a bucket full of paper and wood to stay warm.
The property was not insured.
Just after noon Coal Township fire departments were alerted to a working fire. As chief staff began to respond county advised them of multiple reports of a column in the area, shortly after that police arrived and told county flames showing from the structure.
Command than quickly sounded a second alarm. Rescue 193 and Engine 111 were the first units to arrive quickly stretching hand lines and used the engines deck gun to start putting water on the well involved structure. As other apparatus began to arrival several more master streaks were set up as firefighters fought the blaze from the outside due to interior collapse from being well involved.
No cause has been given for the blaze yet but a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal was on scene near the end of the incident waiting to begin his investigation.
