The next to useless ladder is parked where the Multi Tool of firefighting SHOULD be parked. The Engine! With a Line of Sight on the burning material. In this case, right where the camera is. However, the Fountain Statue mentality of USA firefighting takes over. The Deck Gun should have shut down within 5 seconds after the flames were shut off so the rest of the job could be performed surgically while using the least amount of water. That takes THINKING. Then, once they finally get the ladder set up, it joins in to dump even more water on that one spot that couldn't burn if you dropped napalm on it. 12:00 While that one spot will never burn again after seeing 5000 gallons of water dumped on it, the rest of the house fires right up. But that ladder refuses to give up on that one spot and hopes the water level will rise up enough to drown that second-floor fire. 13:00 Notice where that ladder stream is going. When you look at how long it was putting water into the next block, keep in mind, the video was edited. 40:30 Now that they have vented the roof to allow the attic to breath and ignite, notice how the smo0ke coming out the gable end window and second floor windows are still flowing smoke. It is not going out the hole in the roof. Now flames are coming out of the attic window. The second-floor smoke has still not gone up the hole in the roof. 47:20 Now that they have opened the roof to let the fire breath much better, look at the conditions now. A coordinated attack does NOT exist in the USA fire service, nut it sure sounds good on paper! How does VVing improve conditions on the lower levels? This is the USA fire disservice people. The ones you consider to be your heroes. I'll bet that property owner doesn't think so. If you aren't a responsible and competent worker, you can forget about being anyone's hero.

Early in the video we saw two hand lines throwing copious water at no perceptible fire. Once the roof got goin they were temporarily out of water. I honestly question if these guys could put the dog out to pee…smdh. Every fire it’s the same nonsense.

Once the flames have died and you feel you have put enough water on the Burning Material, you shut off the nozzle and continue thinking about where the Burning Material is. Not doing that is called, Fountain Statue Fireplaying. There 2was way too much water going into the front where there was no smoke or fire showing. The side lines were going through the dormer windows but after a few seconds, they lose a Line of Sight on the Burning Material to the sides of the dormer. You have to actually move your feet to the sides to change your Angle of Attack. The fire got into the ceiling at the ridge and that has to be surgically attacked from the inside.

So slow compared to Australia, we have fire trucks with plenty of water and equipment before hydrants are required. 2 house fires in my area in the past year and a bit were put under control within an hour both 2nd alarm (unfortunately both houses cannot be occupied atm) due to asbestos

Out of curiosity why are so many buildings in America cladded with highly flammable materials? Once they catch fire they go up like a candle? I think from what I've heard it's either vinyl or some kind of aluminum? So many videos I've seen have it either dripping or sagging off the sides. Is it to do with building costs or some other reason?

Question for you. After seeing several of your videos I'm wondering why you don't move around more, you seem to show up and then stand in one spot. Showing arriving apparatus getting positioned and set up to work would be a great thing to do...... Thanks.

So what would you have done differently? Rural location. House fully engulfed on arrival. No hydrants/limited water supply. Narrow road with an energized power line laying across the road. No exposure concerns other than trees. Please enlighten us.

There are tons of fires here, too. Old row home housing in the towns, squatters, and drug use. The firemen do what they can they are mostly volunteers and most have full-time jobs. Especially in the winter, it can get downright scary here.

The 1st due truck might carry 1000 gals of water, if the fire is going well it doesn't take long to empty your tank less than 90 seconds using a deck gun, and maybe 5-8 mins if using a cross lay. You have to understand in the country It takes time to set up a water source using the pools. We use the 1st due tanker as our pool so when the other tankers arrive they pump their water into the tanker keeping no less than 3000 gals of water at all times. Using a water thief we can connect two supply tankers at a time (6,000gals of water) once we have a tanker task force rolling. When our town is called out for a structure fire, 4 surrounding towns fire dept. are called for their tankers 12K gal of water at the same time with support engines for water supply set up .

I’m just here for the arm chair firefighters! Seriously though, fully involved not much there to save other than framing. Put it out and go home. For those of you that are complaining about what went on here remember this, most if not all of you weren’t there(including myself) so you don’t know the whole story. And for those of you that are “experts”, I’d love to have you ride with me on my rig and do what we do. I bet you change your attitude! For those of you that do fire, be safe!

If there was no one to rescue and their wasn't an exposure problem why bust your butt and risk injury? Either this was a delayed notification or a long daytime response. Either way the battle was over before arrival.

i am not american or russian but I watched some russian rural fire incidents , but the russian firfighters reponse is way deferent and quicker , they always start with the water they have in their fire trucks befor figuring out later another source of water ..maybe they have deferent approach on what is the priorites in handling the fire but in most videos i watched the russians seems more effecient .

Oh, how I need to chime in on this call. What was the problem in getting water on this fire? There was a hydrant at E Mah & 5th and you had ample tanker support. This is why pre-planning is so important.

Over 8 minutes in this video to put water on the fire. This was most likely 25 minutes since the call went out which is well below standards of a fire department. The citizens should demand change or replace the entire fire department with staff who can do the job efficiently

Its standard to get more equipment. Do u know what alarms mean. Its not the fire. Its the manpower and equipment needed. So they had no hydrants. They had to shuttle water to the pools they set up. So they did a second or 3rd alarm mostly for water trucks

If a fire is this far gone and there's no exposures, let it go. Fire departments waste so many resources on things like this and there is zero way to change the outcome. There's Only risk to the responders. Especially in super hot, humid weather like this. yes it stinks for the homeowner, but as one of my instructors said many, many years ago; we didn't start the fire. I was always a very aggressive FF when I was young but eventually I saw that no matter how hard we worked, sometimes (many times) the place just got torn down anyway. Risk vs. Reward. The idea we need to do "something" needs to change.

Without the information that I.C. had at the time, the structure was so fully involved that there was nothing to save. Rather than use the limited resources of a rural fire dept., (lack of unlimited water supply), I.C. apparently chose to use his resources to extinguish the remains. This may seem terrible to laymen, but nothing could have been saved. These are my thoughts, not being anywhere near the situation.
