This is the best of the 16 inch mobile gaming laptops. Great speakers, an Oled display, touchpad, keyboard, and premium build. This is one of the few laptops that can trade blows in speakers with the Macbook Pro 16. I wish the laptop came with a 99 WHr battery for slightly better battery life and with either more RAM or upgradeable slots, but that's about it.

Bought the 4060 variant. It was annoyingly loud. Watching the 4080/4090 reviews only made it clear the problem was the third fan. That small additional fan would always keep rotating at 5000rpm when idling, and over 8000rpm when gaming. And no matter how fast, it always had a "whistle"-like noise, which gets on the nerves easily. Impossible to use in a quiet environment; had to return it right away.

Asus has an infamous reputation to their laptop being so hot. Thus, the fan will spinning so fast and loud.

This is why I think for those out there who are sensitive to fan noise (like myself, because I do not like using headphones), the models with the vapor chamber will be better...unfortunately that comes at a higher price, but with the higher end GPU options

Nice pc. Camera and mics were good. Speakers sounded very good. Display is very good. This is a very good gaming laptop and very powerful pc for those who need a unit with this kind of power. If the tasks you do do not require this kind of power then purchase a unit less expensive for your needs. Port selection is very good and laid out properly and well thought out. Q. Does the usb-c ports allow charging this unit when it is sitting turned off? Great review as always.

Beautiful, very Premium laptop from Asus with only a few negatives in my opinion. The first negative is how expensive the laptop is, screen wobble might get annoying after a while, no Wi-Fi 7 and a third fan if you choose the 4060/4070 variant which makes the machine noisier. My recommendation instead is to go with a comparable machine from Lenovo which usually have sales on their laptops from time to time. Excellent job Andrew!! 👍😁

Can i ask what power mode was the laptop in and what gpu mode was it in when you did the battery test? I was hoping in quiet mode, 60hz and with the GPU turned off i would get roughly 10 hours or more with the modern office. Asus gives you a lot of ways to tweak the performance but ive learned from experience with the razer blade that sometimes these things just eat power regardless.

i bout the g16 rtx 4090 configuration and i can attest that even 9 hours is pushing it, but you can comfortably expect 7 on silent mode running chrome, music in the background, and spreadsheet or laboratory software. and the “optimized” or “eco mode” gpu setting (both do the same when unplugged, optimized just automatically switches back to standard mode when plugged in so you can unplug and just forget it). compared to almost every other gaming laptop, the battery life is uncontested at this power level.

@@optimal_3-gener thanks for the reply. I use to have a razer blade 15 which at best got about 2-3 hours of basic use like internet and office apps. After a lot of tweaking I was able to get it to 5-6. After undervolting about 7ish. This is kind of the perfect travel creator laptop of you could get decent battery. I just don't understand how gaming laptops get such worse battery with the exact same internals unless it's the CPU wattage. The GPU can be turned off so it's not that. The CPU wattage can be turned down yet still the overall power draw is much higher. The Galaxy book 4 Ultra can get about double the battery life of this for some reason.

I have the 4070 model and it's silent under light workloads like watching videos or web browsing. I don't use the G-Helper, just the standard Armoury Crate.

Yes it will be good enough. And 32GB is really as good as you'll get with these laptops, 64GB memory laptops are limited in terms of options

It is the 3rd small fan in particular, many reviews have also mentioned it , it's not loud but high pitch sound is annoying

On 20:37 you have an error i think, you say Cons: Third Fan in 4060/4070 Models is noisier, maybe you meant 4080/4090 that have this third fan?

The 4060/4070 have third fan, the 4080/4090 have vapor chamber cooling instead of the third fan.

I have the ROG Zephyrus G14. I thought about the G16, it was just too big. I have a MacBook Pro 16, so I know how big and heavy that one is to slip into bags.

Had the laptop for a week. That wobble is only bad if you throw and move it around a lot. In normal use, on a table or lap, it is not noticeable at all. What you should be worrying about when it comes to this laptop is heat and fan noise, all the other aspects are great, especially the speakers and the screen.

Just this is a stop factor for me, hate it. If you are on the car or train it will be so annoying and it sakes even when you tape on it. I love the look but will never have this notebook.

Anything outside US and CA, these soo much more expensive. The base g16 4050 thats literally E-waste cost 2150usd. Regardless of global prices, an m3max blows this out of the water
