16GB onboard soldered RAM is completely unacceptable in 2024 for a high-end laptop.

You can get one with higher ram mine has 32 GB of ram but you can get one with 48 GB of ram

16 GB of ram is good for what I do but what do you use laptops with 4000 series graphics cards for.

Not a single reviewer has shown this as a deal breaker. ASUS has just sewed up their mouth with sponsorship. It’s difficult find a genuine review on KZfaq these days.

Asus engineers, if you're reading this, if you could make an ROG Ally 2 Handheld with a SAMOLED (RGB-Stripe) 144Hz with native BFI that would be incredible, even better would be if it was either 16:10 1600p or 3:2 1680p, It would also be a really good idea to use a hardware line-double IC with a simple toggle switch for native resolution and 2x 800p (if it's a 1600p display for instance), this would give beautiful IQ with double the FPS or battery life, or 50/50% of both. Edit> Would be amazing to see someone like Asus or MSI collaborate with Marseille (mClassic) and adapt their tech for a handheld PC, I've experimented with it on a 10" OLED I have, and 2x800p looks better than native 1600p with it, and yet I get twice the FPS even though it actually looks better, it's perfect for a device like a laptop or handheld.

4:26 Irony is the slow PWM flicker frequency will improve motion clarity, it's almost the same thing as BFI. Apparently both Steamdeck and Switch in thier OLED form will flicker at a frequency of around 120hz when set to minimum brightness, but at full brightness they exhibit much less flicker, which means that it's really only below 50% brightness that motion clarity would be improved (more specifically on Steamdeck because it's 90hz instead of Switch being just 60hz).

Ugh. I wanna play with this so bad. I got to play with it at CES and ever since I haven't stopped thinking about that display. Even though I still prefer Mini-LED, I can't deny the beauty of the OLED.

I know it's redundant for this OLED panel and you haven't done gaming laptops (before?) but it would be nice if you could get response time data for the devices you test like Hardware Unboxed, Techtesters, HDTVtest and Jarrod's Tech. Not much response time data on handhelds out there!

Noteworthy addition for the gaming battery life benchmark would have been to test with the dGPU but limiting it to 60 fps. This way it's still more performant than the iGPU but this way we could see a battery life that should be closer to the iGPU battery life. Question is: How much closer?

Not a gamer , but hoping to run some engineering/architecture programs. Trying to decide between G16 RTX4070 Ultra7 vs G16 RTX4080 Ultra 9 ?? . Aware of the fan differences and wondering if it is such of a big deal to take into consideration when deciding which one to go for

Do you think there would be any practical gains to getting the 4080 or 4090 version and down-clocking the GPU to get the same performance as the 4079 at lower power? Could there be any noticeable benefit to battery life or fan noise? Edit: the 4080 and 4090 do come with a better cooling setup with better fan noise, so I guess that’s nullified.

This laptop is not worth the premium they are charging with its specs just because its got an oled. Hard skip. Go with a better brand like Lenovo and an external Oled monitor for the cost difference.

Bro the cooling is very bad on this one... Downgrade definitely than previous version... Its just price hike for design and beauty..but definitely not performance in fps and battery... Better get last gen m16 or g15 or g14... Oled is good..but people with that kind of money better buy dell xps, razer or apple than this one

1) OLED - is best, BUT is a risk of burn-outs and only 1 year of warranty - i prefer mini-LED at the moment; 2) screen wobbles on this way too much... and i wont be able to use it on legs lying on sofa (compared to mbp); 3) fan noise is louder than it should be for such device (compare this to new Lenovo Yoga Pro i9 near 10 db difference); 4) intel ultra as you said is a question... yes impressive but not effective at the moment, even AMD looks better for this purpose, but close one - yet it is better for laptop which is not meant to only work from a socket

Ouch, this was a cringe watch. The reading from a prompter or cue card needs some work as it felt so artificial as if reading from a manual or PR spiel too much of the time.

99% of my stuff is unscripted. But it takes so long to edit those. I really have to get better reading from a teleprompter. Thanks for the feedback!
