I deleted TikTok in September due to the insane amount of ads, and I truly just craved long form content and reliable reviews. I honestly don’t miss it and finding your KZfaq videos, and many other KZfaqrs who’s reviews I trust more has helped me find so many holy grail products this past year!! I think 2023 will be they year of yt creators for sure.

As a 30 year old, the idea of celebrities promoting products feels like a call back to the days of TV ads. It seems outdated and celebrity partnerships have little effect on me as a consumer. I place way more trust in content creators who have taken the time to build rapport with their audience and give honest reviews of products (like yourself!). However, I am sure younger folks may be more receptive to celeb ads so I see why big brands are taking this route. But at the end of the day, I will always be coming back to trusted platforms like yours to get my recommendations, especially as the beauty market becomes more and more saturated with products. Andddd quick prediction for 2024..... eyebrow piercings!!!

I honestly think the content creator world has gotten to the point where no one really trusts ads/sponsored content… I hate to say it because i know how much work you guys put into them but like over all I think ppl trust them less and less. I think the exception is if a content creator is vocal about loving something and THEN they get sponsored by the brand/work with them/ do a campaign that’s different and that’s exciting but general ads/ sponsored content is different. Like no way do I think Sabrina carpenter uses nyx regularly nor would I expect her to nor does it bother me that she doesn’t

I agree as well! I don't follow many influences because they lie when the product is scrappy and say its good or they "love" everything. I only watch Rudi and a few others that I trust their feedback

Exactly, people don’t trust most content creators and besides before social media brands used to sponsor celebrities to be the brand spokesperson, so some things just come full circle.

These brands wanna work with celebrities because they're buy-able. They don't have to give an honest 'review' they just have to look hot using it. Particularly with Milk, it makes sense they went to Hailey because their last couple product launches didn't get great reviews from influencers. And for most content creators(at least the ones that I follow), their job requires them to provide honest feedback. All creators have is their integrity and trust from their audience that they're being authentic. Celebrities usually have an entirely separate career that doesn't rely on product reviews, so for them it is the purest form of spon-con. Which also protects these brands because they can still make a ton of money from a product going viral, even if the quality is trash. Celebs owe nothing to integrity, and just get to keep their dayjobs. The Mikayla Mascara Scandal is a perfect example. There's a high probability that if a celebrity was helping sell a mascara, they would also be wearing falsies. And no one would bat an eye(hahahahahahaha) because honesty isn't expected of them. When a TikToker does it's a full blown scandal, and her brand took a big hit. Large brands want all the benefits of celebrity spon-con without the honesty of creators.

I always go to content creators for make up reviews, I trust you and others I subscribe to. I would not trust celeb promoting stuff,, and would have zero interest in what they are saying. You are relatable and that's so important to me when I want to learn about as new products. Xxx

i have to say that i’m loving that shade of green top on you. i loveeee green and now i need that shade in a top!!! i’ve never tried the saie blushes, and i know they’re having a sale as we speak, but i’m actually reallllly loving my elf and moira cream blushes. i personally wear my hair back 90% of the time because it’s humid AF where i live 95% of the year, and i only wear my hair down when i go to the salon. i’m not hating on trends, but some of them are ridiculous in my opinion. i highly doubt that sabrina ACTUALLY uses the nyx lip oils. i LOVEEEED lip stains before they were cool. i really want to try the stila stain and plan on picking one up next time ulta has a sale. i’ve always LOVED cool toned, grungy lover, so i know this will be my year for makeup. i honestly wear i want when i feel like it. i reallllly want to try summer fridays’ and the salt air lip oils. prequel’s products are impressing me and i still love naturium’s skincare. i want to try quickie’s press on nails and i’m wondering if yours are still in stock. i’m IMPATIENTLY waiting for phlur to restock the vanilla skin body mist!!! yesssss to mixed metals!!! have fun in manhattan!!! ps… my friend asked me for a recommendation for a good freckle pen, so i told her if she wanted an AMAZING freckle pen, i’d send her a link… and i did. 💚💚💚

finally watching this video and when you're talking about brands working with celebs, yup, definitely happening. Cardi B and NYX... I agree with the sentiment of spreading the wealth instead of cutting opportunities out for others. Not a fan of this trend going in the direction it is.

I put literally no weight into celebrity beauty endorsements, ambassadorships, or ad campaigns. Mainly because it’s like an open secret that it makes them tons of money, particularly actors, that they can depend on vs. film income which can be hugely variable. I’m increasingly skeptical of creator promotions, but tend to listen to creators more. Where I seek out creators, I do *not* seek out celebrity beauty opinions. I briefly watched the GRMW Vogue vids etc, but rapidly lost interest because they tended to not know what they were talking about and were giving bad advice. Plus they have access to clinical skincare, makeup artists etc., so what we see is a total distortion of reality. Beauty content creators tend to know their shit, are increasingly open about the procedures they get (ex. you have made Botox so much more approachable and de stigmatized it for me). Plus I don’t watch TV and my algo doesn’t show me celebs, so I don’t see their ad campaigns (example, completely divorced from the Jeremy Allen White Calvin Klein craze atm lol). Long form content and in depth reviews is absolutely my jam-so keep doing your thing! Ps. I agree, perfumes have exploded. I fell pray to this because I bought like three different fragrances (full 100ml bottles 😅) this year, and like ten different discovery sets. Kayali Vanilla 28 and Dries Van Noten Soie Malaqais (the entire range from DVN is amazing) particularly….! I’m honestly super supportive of this trend though.
