Does your transmission make a whining noise at idle and when taking off?

Yes it does have a transmission whine noise. I also had a 2021 F150 with a 5.0 engine and it made the same transmission whine noise. Maybe it’s just something with the ford transmissions.

I know the F150 uses the 10R80 transmission and the new 6.8 super duty uses the 10R100. The powerstroke and Godzilla engines use the 10R140

Ram absolutely has the best interior and instrumentation of any truck manufacturers! Ford's clown bar graph gauges just says to the world they don't have a clue what they are doing and have to resort to gimmicks of using bar graphs instead of standard analog gauges!!!

100%, 3.55 and 3.73s are good enough for almost all. Most ford diesels are 3.31s.

@@automotiveinquiries9673 yes sir. And with a 3.73 the transmission can just downshift one extra gear and have a slightly shorter final drive than the 4.30 in one gear higher. So for example 3rd in the 3.73 has a shorter final drive than a 4.30 has in 4th gear. A lot of people will say so just shift the 4.30 to 3rd and it will be shorter. That would be true BUT at highway speeds (60 mph or so) that’s not possible because the 4.30 won’t have the rpm space to shift to 3rd. Anyways. Good luck with whichever you get. I voted for a 3500 L8T but I wouldn’t mind seeing the 4.30 tested. You could demonstrate that you end up being rpm limited based off certain speeds. Now the Tremor wouldn’t be as bad as a regular Super Duty because it has 1” taller tires which would give it a taller final drive than a non Tremor but it would be close enough I think.

I order a F350 king ranch SRW 7.3 long bed with 4.30 to tow a 42ft 5th wheel weighing 14.8 dry / 16 loaded. In Order to keep me under the 20% rule, (diesel not an option for my daily driving and use habits) Ford was the ONLY option other wise I would have brought what I know; Rams Hoping I like this truck or I will be a very pissed off and vocal consumer spending just north of 92k

@@vincew.6905 having a personal “rule” for what you use a truck for is not a bad idea. Unless the 4.30 housing is physically stronger than the 3.73 housing I think it’s very gimmicky at how Ford rates their trucks. The 10 speed transmissions with their wide gear spacing takes away the need for those relatively short rear gear ratios. Certain situations I would agree yes, the 4.30 will be better. If you’re strictly in 1st and 2nd gear all the time then sure, it definitely has a gearing advantage. But at highway speeds, you can just drop a gear with the 3.73 and have nearly identical final drive ratios as the 4.30. The best example of that is the new 6.8 “baby ‘zilla” engine. It makes 405 hp and like 445 foot pounds of torque but it’s limited pretty severely on towing capacity compared to the 7.3. Maybe it’s the 10R100 being the limiting factor but I can’t help but think it’s just Ford being Ford.

I was concerned about (get up and go with a 15k load) from a stop position. The max towing went up almost 2k with those fears if my memory serves me correctly

When did you order it? I ordered my 23 King Ranch Tremor 7.3 fully loaded in November of 21 I don't have a build date or VIN yet. They told me the reason it's taking so long is they still have a parts shortage on the higher trim levels, if I took some options off I'd get it faster. I can't believe you're getting a higher trim level that fast. I hope you do though.

Yeah and the salesperson and the sales manager were arguing with me that it was just a bulb, and that there was nothing wrong. I had to walk them all the way to the bezel and point put the difference and then we're, ots not that big of a deal. Then the manager got in and smashed the B pillar molding on without even seeing if it wad aligned correctly, I heard plastic cracking. Who knows what else was missed or wrong on this truck.

@@automotiveinquiries9673 If you can, do this test: Park your trcuk in front of a wall at about 20 ft and turn on the headlights on low beam. Use your body to cover the light beam from each headlight alternately and see if you can tell any difference with each headlight's beam pattern on the wall. My guess is the projector lens headlight on the driver's side may have a sharper focus pattern. Since Ford charges extra for the projector headlights vs. the reflector headlights, I'd see if Ford can get you the other projector headlight at no cost since you already have one on the truck to compensate for all the trouble you are going through! Dealer folks are mostly clueless! Just ask them to describe the physical difference between a reflector lens headlight vs a projector lens headlight! Anyone who understands can easily tell you what the differences are without even looking at each unit! This is the lens configuration and has nothing to do with the type of bulb - LED, halogen or even HID!!

I showed the manager and he was very non schelant about it. He said, that they would have to change it out, but they didn't have the parts. I was worried about what else they missed.

Convenience package $1135 Camper/snow plow package. $530 Trailer brake controller $275 120 volt outlet in the instrument cluster and one in the bed. $225 Auxiliary battery $135 Total options $2845 Shipping $1995 ----- Final sticker $57,740 Paid $55,940 $1800 under sticker Got $33K for my 2018 trade. Purchased to install my northern lite 10-2 slide in truck camper. Had a 2018 Denali diesel and was over weight. Needed to get a lighter truck with more capacity. This new truck gave me an additional 1611# capacity over my other truck. It has a 975# additional capacity over my other truck. Plus its curb weight is less. Have not installed camper yet. Waiting on the upgraded torque lift 30K hitch and tie downs to come in. Next week. I already have the 48” super truss extension from my previous setup. Got my front hitch mount and running boards delivered yesterday. Getting in the truck without them for me is not easy. 65years old with a bum knee. I will get back to you when it is finished

Make sure you buy a DRW with the most capacity. Do not let anyone talk you into a SRW. Very easy to overload with a truck camper. Mine is the largest camper made buy northern lite. Fully loaded it is over 5300#

I'd definitely pass on it, unless they give you a new 5 year 60k from the date the new engine was put in it. Hopefully the 24s have the fix as the new engine should be the updated version.

So update I win ordered a 2024 7.3 L Godzilla Tremor and built the shit out of it on the inside with almost $15,000 in options ...... I've been doing a bunch of investigating work and in 2024 they fixed the lifter issue from what I'm hearing from a couple of mechanics that are in my family that are in charge of dealerships ​@@automotiveinquiries9673

True, all brands do and potentially have issues. This is the third new super duty that at pickup had issues, so it suvka either way. But, we are still looking for a super duty for the channel

Not to mention the jackshaft driven oil pump on the godzilla engine.

ignorance is strong with this one.....the 7.3 is not an OHC design....it has a small single timing chain like a traditional old-school pushrod engine CAM IN BLOCK.

@WienerSnitzel337 Yes, you are absolutely correct. The 7.3 is a cam in block ohv pushrod design with a single timing chain. I wasn't disputing that fact. That oil pump drive chain added to the timing chain set up is sketchy at best. Ford has notoriously over engineered things on the 7.3, just as they have on their ohc engines, making them problematic. It's almost like they forgot to put an oil pump in the 7.3 engine. Then they were faced with the question...How can we add one? Then cobbled the oil pump into the mix. I guess they could have ran a belt in oil, as they are using on other engines. 🤣 When we start seeing 7.3's with 200k to 300k miles on them holding up well, then I too will be impressed.

I've owned some Toyota over the years and if the tow ratings were higher, enough to meet my towing needs, I'd absolutely give one a shot. Toyota makes an outstanding vehicle. I had huge hopes years ago when they talked about a hino diesel powered Toyota HD.

I've done both and I'll tell anyone that drinking is far worse for you and/or innocent bystanders than weed will ever be. Some people can't handle weed, most people can't handle alcohol. 😉
