Appreciate the thorough review. IMHO, a matching mesh to the one on the lid that instead contains items in the main compartment would work better than side mesh panels. These cases look pretty cool, but at $2.5K, that's 1/4 the price of my TransAlp, so that's hard for me to justify. In fact, for the kind of riding/camping I want to do, I'd put that $2.5K into a trailer and make myself a toy hauler. Errbody is different though!

Three questions: (1) what size is your full face helmet? (2) can you please provide the measurement of the total width of the AT with both of those side cases installed? (3) have you ever used the Line Rider Moto case panniers, and if so, how do these SW Motech cases compare? Thanks and keep up the great videos!

I appreciate the reference to the Honda cases because no rack was tempting. However, I already had these DUSC cases (33 liter) on my Transalp and I’m waiting on the rack to transfer them to my 2024 standard Africa Twin DCT. These are awesome cases, and it’s super easy to remove the rack with the quick turn screws. And I like that it has tie downs on the corners of the cases. For a top case though I’m running SW Motech’s expanding Urban case. It’s super light, has a low profile I like, and expands plenty for any helmet. I run the SW Motech Daypack for my tank bag.

@@adventureundone - I traded the Transalp when I bought the Africa Twin. I also have a 2022 DRZ400S with most all of the desired mods, so that’s my primary go to for days I know I’ll spend a lot of time off-road. The Transalp was pretty awesome. Pretty similar power to weight ratio to the 1000cc Africa Twin. Very flickable, and a great value. I hated the tubed tires though. Got a rear flat and it was a major PITA to repair. So having the DRZ, wanting tubeless, cruise, DCT, and Apple CarPlay I made the switch. Feel like it rounds out my bike needs. Had the Transalp come with tubeless I wouldn’t have had enough motivation to change.

No padded passenger backrest pad on the top box! What on earth was Motech thinking when they designed that. Definite showstopper for me and anyone else with a passenger to carry, I'd suggest. Aside from that point, looks fine as a storage/carry. But for the extra $5 it would have cost them to stick a backrest pad on the front I fear they'll lose a lot of sales.

Was there a price difference between the SW-MOTECH and the Honda ABS luggage?

Honda's Poly case set is about $1,800. The aluminum set is about $2,300. The SW Motech DUSC set is about $2,486.

@@diernosaj Thanks. I'm picking my new 2024 Adventures Sports up on Tuesday, I had already ordered the full Honda Poly set. That's a big price difference, in Canada the DUSC set would be almost $1000 more so I'll stick with the Honda cases.

@@diernosaj I'm currently riding a '21 HD Pan America, I love the bike and it is brilliant when it works but I have had too many electrical issues with it and don't trust it anymore.

Not for everybody. Hard luggage is my preference for security reasons, I can both lock the cases and lock them to my bike to deter theft. Soft luggage does not offer that level of security.

no. the 19" wheel sucks...they killed with this move the ATAS

Maybe for you. I specifically bought the '24 ATAS because of the 19" front wheel. I planned on buying a 2017 Africa Twin until I test rode it, the handling of the 21" front wheel was terrible, I took the bike back to dealer after less than 3 miles.

@@Ash12530 I've got 37 years riding on the street, over 300,000 miles on multiple bikes. I've got the experience part down, a 21" front wheel cannot compete with a 19" for handling on the street. Off road, absolutely the 21" front wheel is better but for street riding there is no comparison.

@@michsky46 That doesn't make sense to me, you would think the more off road focused base model would have the big tank as well, more chance of being far off the beaten path away from fuel sources.

@@Sasquatch_by_Day-nv3yh no, what doesnt have sense is the chopped down inches on ATAS. The base model I don’t care at all. Autonomy matters to me, wheel base 21/18 is must for me. Now I would not go with any africa twin! Instead would go with triumph tiger 1200explorer
