For a while now the Mitsubishi Triton has been the popular cheap and cheerful alternative to the dual-cab 4x4 ute heavyweights, the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux.
But the all-new, sixth-generation 2024 Mitsubishi Triton is bulked up, powered up and priced up, and Mitsubishi is aiming clearly at the class-leaders.
While it doesn’t launch until February, we’ve scored some time off-road in a pre-production Triton GLS to give you a first indication of whether it’s worth waiting for. Hint: it just might be.

I absolutely hope those rubbers on the bottom and each side of the tail gate come out standard on the GLS and GSR models!!!! Nothing worse than dust, mud and water coming in the tub.. Ranger Wildtrak and Toyota Hilux Rogue have them. I am ready to buy the new Triton, but if they come out without them, I will not buy it..

Mitsi non sealed Snorkel YES 🤣 And just wait till you get something fixed under warranty and they say you took this offroad so your not covered.Lucky they didn't give this an electric park brake.Make sure you buy silicon intercooler hoses aswell

Still the ugliest Ute on the road and rear drum brakes, and a huge price increase, if we were talking about a hilux it would be front page news

More power it’s only got 20 kw and 30 nm of torque than the old model that’s not much.

What's with people nowadays? "Oh I need a 1000hp to actually use my ute". Have you forgotten people use to use LN106 and LN107 as work horses and they have only like 90hp. What do you need so much HP and Torque for? To go buy ya groceries?

Need to do more research, not just listening to those so called car experts. The important thing is the torque band is wide, 470nm from low as 1450rpm, right up to 2700rpm. That’s massive improvement than it’s old engine. I’m not big fan of this new triton, ugly front with 7000 more cost. Let’s see what the sales figure in the next couple of years.

Frankly, the design is ugly and the previous one is more attractive. Twin turbo means more problems.
