I've found using cruise control has been great for the gas mileage as well. I use brakes a fraction of the time now. In fact, I just drove my old Cobalt for the first time since I got the new car. I can't believe how much more I use the brakes on that car verses the Prius. My drive to work has a ton of sharp corners at highway-ish speeds. I'm guiding the turn about 30% of the time.

@@AmpedUpSibs My commute to work was (prior to my getting laid off) 25 miles each way. I charge the Prius in the driveway each night, so I started out with a full charge each morning. I could get all the way to work on the LA freeways on battery, and part of the way home as well. I found that when I filled my tank I was getting about 100 mpg over all doing this. But the REAL joy, and the main reason I wanted to stop driving my manual transmission Corolla, was the stop-and-go LA traffic. I was able to just turn on the cruise control and let the car manage everything with the brake and throttle, so much more relaxing than clutch and gearshift work. The boosted power is a wonderful bonus, even in EV mode it out-accelerates my old Corolla, making entrance ramps and scooting into a hole in the traffic so much easier. Something else I discovered about the Prius that I like is the electric windows. On a hot day, when the interior is very warm, I can just quickly punch the window buttons and they go all the way down, no holding them while they go down. When I want them back up again I just flip them up quickly, two at a time, and they go all the way up. Again, no holding the switch until they complete. But I still tend to reach for the shifting knob too much, I have always driven a manual and old habits die hard. I sold my 2008 Corolla to a young kid at my company, a really good kid, for half it's actual value. I really liked the frugality he displayed in wanting a cheap but reliable car and not running off to go into major debt on a new car. The longer he drives that thing, the more money he can save up. :) In my own defense, when I bought the Prius, it was a cash transaction, no payments, no debt.

Much easier to just slip the shifter into "B" Mode before the car starts to gain speed. But, be careful as (like when using cruise for the same reason), the brake lights do not activate. Those tailgaters behind you might get to meet you in person..............

I was incredibly fortunate, actually. I was walking by the local dealership casually looking at the B4ZX and a salesperson came out. I asked about the XSE Premium and he mentioned that 2 were coming in that month. 2 people had ordered them and one backed out of the purchase. I took the available one, of course.

My Cobalt had the sunroof that opened and I frequently used it so I thought that I might miss it in the Prius. However, I haven't even noticed that it is fixed, and there's still a good amount of airflow with the front two windows down. I like the look of the tinted roof so far. We'll see what I think when summer hits and it is hot and sunny.

@@AmpedUpSibs awesome. I’m debating between the fixed glass roof or solar roof. Solar roof is cool but the fixed glass roof seems fun and would like the feel of more headroom
