If you’re interested in tourers this one might be for you, with Suzuki revealing a new GSX-S1000GX for 2024, which they are positioning between the old GT version and the V-Strom 1050. Let’s take a quick look at what’s on offer. Starting with pricing, which will be $26K ride-away here in Australia. UK pricing in comparison is £14,499 ride-away, and starts at $18,499 in the US.
Plus we see Suzuki’s first ever implementation of electronic suspension, or the Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension SAES and Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilisation or SRAS.
That’s Showa SFF-CA inverted forks, and a BFRC-lite link-type monoshock, with active damping control, between Soft, Medium and Hard, alongside a customisable user setting. Rear preload is also adjusted electronically, with four modes based on load. Essentially that boils down to Auto, rider, rider and luggage, and rider plus pillion. Preload on the forks in contrast is adjusted down near the brake caliper, on both sides.
The 999 cc four-cylinder remains, outputting 112 kW or about 150 ponies, at 11,000 rpm, and 109 Nm at 9250 rpm, although fuel consumption is a higher 6.2 litres per 100 km. There is a slipper clutch however.
On the electronics front we see the Suzuki Intelligent Ride system, with Power Modes, as well as Suzuki Traction Control, Lift Limiter and Roll Torque Control. Naturally there’s RbW, with bi-directional quickshift, smart cruise control, slope control, easy start and low rpm assist. All that’s viewed and controlled through a TFT display, as is the electronic suspension.
The chassis consists of a twin-spar aluminium frame, with trellis subframe, with the seat rails offering attachment points for optional side cases. The swingarm is also a beefy aluminium unit.
Wheels are six-spoke cast aluminium units, and I’m a little surprised to see 17 inch wheels both front and rear, as that’s not really in keeping with the cross-over theme, where you’d expect to see a 19 inch front for instance. Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2s are run standard fitment.
Brembo also provide the four-piston radial front calipers, matched to 310 mm floating rotors, while we see a Nissin unit at the rear, single-piston. Cornering ABS is provided by the Motion Track Brake System, with the Slope Dependent Control System helping reduce rear wheel lift in heavy braking situations.
Other little details include a three-way adjustable screen, standard hand guards, full LED lighting with stacked headlight, rear carrier with integrated grab bars and floating handlebars with rubber mounts.

This is a great option to other bikes in similar category on the market. The only disappointing thing, at this time, is the fuel consumption.

How it bad ?? Getting 200 miles out of it is pretty good isn’t it ?

@TIMHARTTT I didn't say it was bad, just disappointing. Fuel tank could be another litre or two bigger

Good Job Suzuki, Finally they are catching up with competition. Not everyone ride like a MotoGP rider , the 1000 GX should be more about comfort than sporty ride(GT), how sporty is it to ride hours on Highway!!!!! I prefer more cushion seat, higher and back handlebar, softer ride, taller windshield. Anyway Suzuki 👍, You are offering more with GT, GX and V-Strom. 👍👍👍

Looks like a Versys. Definitely not leaving the asphalt. It is the best looking new bike Suzuki has done in quite a few years. I like Suzuki, but the worst part about them though is they just seem unable to get the bikes into the dealerships where you can actually buy them.

Yea it does have those vibes. I've been seeing more Suzukis at my local dealer, especially the V-Stroms (the 800).

This is looking very promising. l really want to see this, l was pleasantly shocked by the success of the GT and l have always loved the Tracer. So anything which is more upright, has a screen and very sporty that is an amazing package. One of the things l have always faulted about the otherwise excellent Tracer, has been the capacity and power, at about 854+ and around 116 HP when other bikes are generally in the one 1000cc and 150+ HP range. The other thing is the tank capacity which does roughly about 250km. So if this bike can do that and have a range about say 400km range with that power and capacity that would be hard to beat. Exciting times indeed. l need to win the next $2Billion lottery lol. So many great bikes not enough time and money for them. l am also shocked by the ecellence of the V4S Rally which seems to be juat about unbeatable. Maybe it is true, there are no bad bikes these days!!!

Very true, we've got some amazing options these days. The triple engine in the Tracer is pretty amazing, but 150ish hp is very much the norm now with these larger machines. I feel you on the lottery too, I need to buy a ticket!

Looks ace, still retaining the gsxs1000s feel with all the extras and more pillion freindly if in the market for one this would be it......

I reckon this will be a winner for those who want less of a sport ergo for sure.

Nice ... I'd ride that. Look how much nicer that stock can is compared to the monstrosity on the GSXR100.

Looks good. I think going after the s1000xr rather than the r1300gs market was smart - it’s a sport bike engine after all, plus that ADV market is CRAMMED and they have an offering at each capacity point really. The 6L/100km… I’m reckoning is optermistic based on my friend’s katana, so I’d be interested to know what the tank size and real fuel range is for the GT market. My mate can get the fuel economy down in the 5’s on the commute, sure, but whenever we ride together and he used it like anyone buying a 4cyl tourer over a twin will, it drops fast! Otherwise it looks like a good budget option with just enough features

Yea the adventures are getting crazy, I'm surprised we're still seeing so many updates from various brands but I guess that's what people are buying. I would guess bikes like this and the XR are what a lot of adventure riders wanting, but the appeal of the dual purpose tyres is big too. That sounds a bit like an MT-10 as far as fuel use lol, if you're having a crack you can practically hear the tank draining. The only thing worse was a Benelli TnT 899 I test rode years ago, I think I was getting 150 km out of 12-13 L!

@@MotoJournoKris bikes are expensive, cost same as a car!!! the only bike you can ride long and enjoy are adventure bikes!! Upright seating position!!!Other styles are only good for short , cafe to cafe rides, which is too expensive for a weekend one hour ride!!! If I am paying so much for a bike, I like to put lots of mileage on it in a year, not park in garage and clean it !😂

Im not so sure inline four is suitable....much prefer Yamaha Tracer 9 gt with incredible triple motor for low down torque ..

No reason a four-cylinder can't be tuned to deliver good low to mid-range torque. Traditionally that's why they were often prefered over the 600s. The 1000s had more torque and didn't need to be wrung out as much, especially the nakedbike versions. Although the Tracer 9 does have an amazing engine in it.
