The 2024 Toyota HiLux GR Sport is here and ready to shake up the dual-cab ute segment in Australia, which is currently led by the second-generation Ford Ranger Raptor, with the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior and Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme also in the flagship mix.
Much like its rivals, the new HiLux GR Sport levels the dual-cab ute up with a series of upgrades. For starters, just look at it! If appearance counts for anything, it's the toughest HiLux to date. But there's more to it than just looks, as it also ushers in a more powerful version of the tried-and-true 2.8-litre turbo-diesel engine.
In this expert review, CarsGuide Senior Journalist Tom White puts the HiLux GR Sport through its paces to find out just how capable its mechanical changes have made it. After all, it also takes an already successful 4WD formula and adds to it a series of helpful 4x4 features, so it should be good.
