It’s been about a decade since the Honda Civic lineup has offered a hybrid version, but that drought ends for the 2025 model year. A new Civic Hybrid joins the model roster in both sedan and hatchback form, but this time, its hybrid powertrain is as much about uplevel performance as it is about fuel efficiency. In fact, the 2025 Civic Hybrid is the most powerful Civic yet outside of the track-focused Type R variant, and it replaces the previous turbocharged 1.5-liter engine as the mainline Civic’s step-up powertrain offering.
Cars.com Senior Research Editor Damon Bell traveled to Montreal to attend the 2025 Civic Hybrid’s press preview event, and he got seat time in the top-line Sport Touring trim. (Per our ethics policy, Cars.com pays for its own airfare and lodging when attending such manufacturer-sponsored events.) Come along for our quick-spin tour of Honda’s newest hybrid, including Damon’s behind-the-wheel driving impressions.
