Welcome back guys!! Here's my first POV driving review video of the 2025 Subaru Forester Premium trim level!
It's still rocking a 2.5 boxer with symmetrical AWD and of course a CVT. No manual or turbo currently offered but a Hybrid should be coming out in about a year as well as the 2025 Forester Wilderness soon!! I'll also have both driving and full POV reviews of the Base, Sport, Limited, and Touring soon! And POV driving reviews of each!!

Dude, I love your videos. The new Forester looks great. I’m going to wait for the hybrid version before considering it. I currently drive a 2023 Outback Limited XT and really enjoy it.

My wife and I are going to look at some today. She approves of this new model, because the Touring has ventilated seats, lol!

Thanks for the info! Will be interesting to see how the Touring's larger wheels and skinnier tires handle bumps (IMHO a bad choice for a car that's intended for occasional off road driving).

Agreed! Although, because it’s a Subaru I’m sure it will still ride really nice haha.

The Forester seems like a nice redesign, but I personally would not get it just because they do not offer the turbo like the Outback. One nice thing I do like about the redesign is that Subaru is offering the 360 camera for the Forester. I'm hoping that will make its way to the Outback for the next redesign.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the base 2025 forester has the smaller dual screens same as the base impreza. The giant screen was the main reason i was considering a 24 sport.

Yeah, I think the base version of each of the Subarus comes with that dual screen, even the Outback! I’ve already driven the Base Forester and will make those videos public soon, I actually think the dual screens are more responsive than the 11.6” haha 😂

If they took the transmission from the Wilderness, how come this doesn't get worse MPG? Also, does this mean going forward, there will be no differentiation in transmission between the Wilderness and non-Wilderness trims?

I’m assuming most of the MPG difference comes from the .5” lift, AT tires, and the more aggressive final drive ratio in the Wilderness. The 2025 Wilderness might have its own set of upgrades, all I’ve heard it that the regular 25’s share the same tranny as the “last gen wilderness”. 🤷‍♂️🤪

How different is the steering? I can't stand the '24's lack of on center feel on the highway.

I’ll know more and report more in the weeks to come. But this feels different driving as an owner vs. just when I’ve driven them long enough to get a good sense of it for my review type video. It definitely feels higher up and less stable than my Outback with the lower curb weight, shorter wheelbase, and maybe higher seat position. But still it feels great as a vehicle around town and sub 50MPH roads. I’ll know and establish better thoughts about how it does on the highway over the next few days and weeks for those future videos!

When is new Wilderness expected?

Good question! And I have no idea. In one of my Forester videos I accidentally mentioned something about it being available in a month, and I didn’t entirely realize that until after finished with the car. 🤦‍♂️😅

Wait, the new Forester has the CVT transmission from the Wilderness, with a transmission oil cooler?

That’s what I’ve read online by reputable sources, so hopefully I shared the truth! But I hadn’t dug into it any deeper than the surface level statements I’ve skimmed over in reading.

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 that makes sense. I think Subaru should include the CVT oil cooler on all their vehicles. That, along with regular transmission fluid replacement, should make the CVT last longer.

The Forester has been offering less and less in the past few years - SAD! Subaru had better start offering some PIZAZ VERY SOON or start kissing Forester buyers goodbye - FACT!
