This is the second Dinone Studio proboscidean I have, and as promised it’s a bit more impressive than the Dinone Moeritherium I showed last time!
Platybelodon is of the rather well-recognized shovel tuskers. Belonging to the subfamily Amebolodontidae, the form is very nicely sculpted, with the showcase shovels rendered beautifully in texture and colour. A rather small proboscidean, this model nonetheless has presence, as yu will see.

Me too! All those different configurations, and this one was the most bizarre of all! It was one of the very few probosiceans whose name I learnt as a child!

Awesome review! These Dinone mammals look amazing. I regret not getting the 1/20 Woolly Mammoth from them, I'm still on the lookout for it.

These are very hard to get now, and indeed, after the glypdonts, I believe no more will be produced as I understand the master making them hasn't been in good health for a while. The Mammoth is one of those I missed by learning about Dinone too late, and if you get them through middlemen importers you would have to pay through the nose for these. Even then, I believe most middlemen online stores have sold out of it 😥

@@DinosDragons thanks for the info! Sad to hear the sculptor is not in good health, they have tremendous talent. Hopefully someone will sell that mammoth on the second hand market one day! Love your channel btw!

I always say that I love prehistoric mammals just as I love Dinosaurs. And each day I learn about new species and it excites me to learn more about them. And my dear sir I'm sure you know I love proboscideans❤. But I can't name a favorite because I love them all. But Palaeoloxodon namadicus is my favorite. Because some researches suggest that they were here in Sri Lanka (Palaeoloxodon namadicus sinhaleus). Actually, there were several extinct species of elephants here in Sri Lanka. And still, there are some beautiful Elephants here but in my opinion, they are endangered. Either way, I enjoyed this review so much and I'm so glad to see that your Prehistoric mammal shelf is growing bigger each day. And my guess for the next video is Dinone Columbian Mammoth 😉Keep up the good work my dear Sir. Wish you all the best.

Ah, if ever a 1:20 Palaeloxodon was made, it would rival the iToy Paraceratherium in size and that would be perfect! I liked the EoFauna but it is not the scale I have for most of my non-dinosaurs and I didn't unstable foot position. It's great when your country has fossils of an animal you like! And it's sad that even today proboscideans are in danger of extinction. Humans don't seem to understand why sometimes profit doesn't come first. I hope that things settle for you and I can visit your country one day. Unfortunately, I don't have the Columbian Mammoth. That was quickly snapped up and I missed the order long after it ceased ☹

Here in Sri Lanka, we have Cenozoic fossils and I've never heard anything about dinosaur fossils. I'm not an expert on the subject. But like me, most of our people are not experts and even if they find something valuable they don't know what to do with it. Our education system is the only thing to be blamed for. And you are most welcome to visit our beautiful country in the future, my dear Sir ❤ For me, Eofauna figures are the only thing I can afford, but I don't have any. so hopefully I will definitely have them all one day❤ If it's not the Colombian Mammoth, then I'll have to wait to see what's next 😉

Stop trying to temp me into buying non dinosaur models. You are nearly succeeding every time!! Seriously though, thanks for another entertaining and informative video.

Haha no danger of that! These are almost impossible to find now, and most collectors who have them rarely sell them. Your money is SAFE! 😁

A very nice sculpting indeed and very accurate. I don't like too much the paintjob, for that price it could be a little bit better.

Unfortunately, the painting can be a little rough, but I put it down to the handcrafted nature of these models. Certainly, I think EoFauna for a much lower price, would be more worthwhile for a lot of people, as those figuress are stunning!

When you posts a video it always makes my day! my self is a semi dinosaur nerd, but I still don't know a lot about dinosaur and prehistoric creatures. When I watch your vids I can enjoy the figure and learn some facts. Thx for the awesome content!! Also about theropods are you a lipped guy or a lipless guy? I'm a lipped guy bc I think lip on dinosaur is cool and a new concept

Thank you and your post made my day! You probably notice that I often include a bit of science behind these wonderful animals, which I think will help stimulate interest and also appreciation for models people might have but who didn't notice some details. Interesting you asking your clairvoyant question about lips! I just put up an overview on the lip vs no lip debate in my Rebor Kiss review. Check it out! 😁
