Kanella this was a great way to use the alcohol inks. I really enjoyed it and I love the metallic mixatives. But when you use the metallic mixatives they don't flow the same as the inks. When you drop it on the canvas that first drop tends to stay even though most flows around, that drop will look like a spot unless you really work to spread it. From some angles it looks like a dark spot. I've been doing flowers only so thanks you for a new way to use the alcohol inks.

There is a way to guarantee crisp lines that don’t bleed every time-someone showed me this method few years ago, it works and I’ve never looked back😄lol-All you need besides the tape is some ‘gloss gel medium’; and before you put down any of the paint (after you tape it off) you just brush on some of the gloss gel medium before you apply any of the paint-apply it generously (not too thick, but just don’t be stingy with it either) all along the edge of the tape (where the tape stops and the canvas begins) and let it dry/ or just blow dry it. And then apply the paint just like you would/ like you did here and continue to use the same ‘tape peeling method’ that you were using when removing the tape while the paint is still at least a little wet (just like you did here). Guaranteed crisp lines, every time, absolutely zero bleeding! 👌🏼😁👍🏼

Beautiful!! I absolutely love it!! I picked up a trick when I was a professional painter to prevent the paint seeping under your tape ensuring crisp lines. After you lay down your tape, seal the edge with white (your base color) and then lay down the gold once that dries. You'll have crisp lines every time ;)

Cool! Tips for hard-edge tape work--if you have trouble with acrylic paint seeping under the tape (more common if you're working with more liquid paints) you can seal the edges of the tape with gel medium, let it dry, and then paint. This seals the tape so it doesnt seep under but is still soft enough to peel the tape up. For very thick paint applications you might let it dry and then use an exacto knife to cut the paint where it overlaps the tape and then peel the tape up. For circles, put down pieces of tape that cover the area of the outside of the circle, draw your circles on the tape with either a drawing compass or trace around circular forms (a plate, bowl, anything the right size) then carefully use an exacto knife to cut out the circle along the lines. Remove the tape for the circle, leaving the tape down inside and outside the lines you want. Definitely use gel medium to seal the tape for this, since you will have more than one piece of tape overlapping. Hope that makes sense.

I think I am in love with alcohol inks now. They are beautiful. Your new heat gun is for crafts and stamping. I used to sell them in my craft shop. You have your stand on backwards, it hugs the barrel when you fold it up. I have some in my craft cupboard under the stairs. I also have every colour of Ranger alcohol ink that hasn’t been opened yet. I think I have to tidy it up to find them. Thank you. 🌷
