On March 25, 2023 Principal Chief, David W. Hill, was joined by Second Chief Del Beaver and other representatives from the Muscogee Nation to hold a wreath laying ceremony for the 209th commemoration of the Battle of Horseshoe Bend where over 800 Mvskoke warriors, women and children were killed. Muscogee Nation Cultural and Historic Preservation Manager, RaeLynn Butler, who spoke at the ceremony had this to say, " It's a sad day. It's hard to be here but it is good to be here. We're not here looking back in time, we're here letting our ancestors know that we are still moving forward."
