hallooo I have some tips that I hope will help when auditioning: -eat a banana -don't talk to ur friends before ur audition -focus on yourself and be cocky asf knowing you got it (but don't be outwardly cocky just know you can do it!) -pluck silently before you start -don't even think about the scale or the piece because you might second guess yourself and get parts wrong that you could have nailed hope these help

Brings back horrible memories from an audition I went to 10 years ago. Everything went well, we played well together, I was like "yeah, I got this!".... Until the very last note.... I ACCIDENTALLY PLAYED A SEMITONE OFF! 😱 And the judges went "aww, too bad." Took me years to get over the embarrassment.

Story Time! One Time I walked in to audition and needed to play a scale. The judge said I could have one hint. Being the intelectual I am; I asked him what note the scale started on! I messed up misserbly and got a 10/100 on my score sheet.

I tried out for all state once for Horn and it was my first audition and I have severe stage fright. Right when I played a note during my audition and heard the judges pencil move I forgot everything. My mind went completely blank and I forgot all my scales. I left the room crying and I still had my second half of my audition, which was the Etude section. Let’s just say in the end all my hard work went to wast because I got an 8.65 out of 60 on my audition and all I did was embarrass myself. Ever since this has become my biggest fear in music. Playing for an audition or test and forgetting everything.

It's a little bit short : you can pratice all day long ( I used to practice 10 hours a day when I was young ) and fail at your exams. Practicing a lot doesn't mean to be efficient.

Practice is the most important obviously, but there is also the mental factor. You can play like Heifetz in your house and then feel so terrified in stage that you end up playing considerably worse than you can. Playing in your house and playing during an audition are 2 whole different worlds. It is a nerve wracking experience so you must do a lot of separate work to be able to play well under a lot of pressure.
