Unfortunately I'm going on the 1st of July to bury a family member. If I had to choose between that and staying home I'd probably choose the latter. But still stinks a lot of people can't get away from the grind whether they can't afford it or in my case run a small business and therefore can never leave lol

I can vouch for that. Had a 76 LTD wagon, in "Bigfoot blue", a silver 76 Grand Marquis, fully loaded, and a triple black 77 Mk V. The last two had 460s. 80 mph road pillows (back when the speed limit was 55 🤣).

I literally clicked on this as a random thumbnail because I recognized the car. My grandparents (who passed in 2011 and 2017) had a gold LTD just like this one when I was a kid. They sold it in 1995 to buy a brand new Grand Marquis which ultimately was their last car. So many amazing memories of riding around in that car. I still remember the smell of that interior and the clock that rolled the time like an odometer. Thanks for bringing up some warm memories

Those formations are called buttes. That LTD brins back fond memories. We had when I was younger, the small block seized up and my Pops pulled a 390 out of a T bird to replace it. My family of 7 drove from MS to the very top of Iowa in one of these . It was a round trip of 1990 miles. Those were the days. No seatbelts, and no room in a floater tank. We drove all the way across Missouri from St. Louis to KC . Went to the awesome Science museum in St. Louis . There’s nothing like a long trip with your family.

This took me back. I owned a similar car in the 1980s, and my mother had the station wagon version. Both of them were 1974s with 400/2V engines, so they were running _leaded_ regular. One of my fondest memories was road tripping that barge from Portland Maine to Washington DC. It took forever with the 55 MPH speed limit, because you couldn't reliably get away with going faster than 60-64, especially in CT.

Thanks for the memories Dalton. Although maybe I should have skipped this . I so miss my summers at the cabin outside the east gate we use to drive from CT to Laramie for a few days then on to Cody and up to the cabin . Did that for nearly 20 years. I spent one summer working as a wrangler at Pahaska Tee Pee taking tourist on trial rides in the mountains. Probably the best summer of my life , maybe because I had the cabin to stay at and not the room at the back corral with the horses . But either way it's something I'll never forget 😢. We would make up all kinds of stories to tell on the rides . I'm in hundreds of tourists family photos. Oh and I beat up some Amish kid who thought he was a tough guy. Almost forgot about that

Super nice car!!!

Thank you letting us tag ALONG and giving us an opportunity to enjoy the sights, That's a perfect highway cruiser. My parents had a '73 LTD with a 429v we got when it was around two years old. A soundproofed, comfortable highway machine that had enough room in it to haul as many bodies are you could load into it. Gas was not particularly expensive at the time, and that car was not particularly thrifty either. At seven years old, I "helped" pick it out. I wouldn't mind having one right now, in any case :)

Ice formation on the return refrigerant line is a result of low suction pressure, the low fan setting can do that, a slightly LOW refrigerant charge can also do it. High refrigerant charge will not lead to that condition because if anything it will keep the evaporator pressure higher, as designed to operate. However , icing is pretty common on those older systems with thermal expansion valves, they tend to starve the evaporator much of the cycle time. That problem is fixed with the pilot operated absolute valves of that era that were seen on GM products, they had a pilot valve in the evaporator feed control assembly that did not let the evaporator pressures go too low, which promoted icing. Don't sweat the gas mileage, a land yacht, fully loaded, running AC and pushing high speeds with a vintage push rod smog era engine....ya all be doin' good! Just have fun.
