We have absolutely no idea of what has happened. He is nowhere to be seen. Gulls are fantastic flyers, but of course not unbreakable. It's a tragedy and a mystery.

Thank you. We hope for the best for Gher and the chicks too. Unless Ghim has been trapped or something like that, we don't think he will return. Too much time has passed and it's 'impossible' he would have stayed away like this and still be well. We will do our best to make their chances better. And yes, Wing is actually seeming to help. That is nice for Gher.

It will be hard and we don't know how this will go. But we will try to figure out what we can do to help. Gher is a fantastic parent, but she doesn't trust us enough to be easlily helped. Hopefully we can figure out together.

Yes, this 'story' made a surprising and very unwanted turn. Very sad and bad for Gher and the chicks. We will step up our attention and try to find a way to contibute that helps her and the chicks. Our main goal will be to try to make her accept eating from the box. Then she can eat as much as she needs (and later also the chicks) and there will be no food left to attract others. She spends a lot of energy keeping the chicks safe and to guard her domain. We really, really hope nothing happens to her. The chicks need at least one parent to teach them 'the gulls' way'. Gher will of course become tired and exhausted (like Hegull was in the same situation), but luckily Wing seems to 'step in'. We were surprised by his strong 'return'. We have seen him all spring and until now, staying on the other side of our house, using our chimney as a watching post. Since the first incident, we thought of him being a little limitless male, so we were pleased to see him being so polite and mild to Gher in this situation . Even though Gher strongly rejects him, he actually helps her. He has even chased the OC away, also others. And he stays close when Gher gets tired. He is collecting food elsewhere even though there where food left on the roof. But he seems to have eyes for another female, nothing like Gher, but still... Gher rejecting him so harshly, we don't know what will happen here. Our heads say there is no hope for Ghim's return any more. He doesn't stay away like this. Our hearts of course...

Yes, we feel 'everyone' need to step in now. It will be tough for Gher, but still possible. Hegull managed it. Gher is different from Hegull though. We have to find the way with her. Wing is... We were sceptical to him from earlier on. But his behavior lately has made us see him in a little different light. It could be he is not the 'brute' we thought him to be. It almost looks like he is so infatuated in Gher, he can not get her out of his mind. And he is not rude at all to her. Gull rules are some times difficult for us to understand. We don't think Wing has anything to do with Ghim's disappearance. He was 'no match' to Ghim. Thank you for commenting.

@@picapicalifeIf there is enough food on the roof, she should be able to provide for her three little ones and stay around to protect them. Baby birds grow very fast but it will still be very difficult for the gull family for about 2 weeks.
