Ray Maready roosterteeth has them and they most likely have used them on shoots before for SMG. It would only be good for real time shots though.

The problem is that the weight of a quality slow motion camera is going to far exceed the payload of a drone. Sure, they might get some cool shots, but, they're in the business of slow motion, so sort of pointless.

I know you'r not gonna see this, but I'd like to see you guys try to capture an electrical charge on highspeed. I remember this one episode of mythbusters where they were setting off explosives inside of a water barrel or something. And in the slowmo shot they got, you could actually see an orange shine coming from the wires as the detonation charge ran down the wire and into the barrel where the explosives were. I'd love to see someone try to recreate that footage.

That wasn't electric wire, it was det cord - you could see the detonation travel down the det cord in every explosion slow mo shot they did in the whole show.

I'm pretty sure that was "det cord" which is a little bit different in internal structure than normal wire. I'm also pretty sure then in the UK, det cord will be hard to get like it would be here in Aust. Our governments frown upon stuff like that. That said however if they could do what you suggested, it would add another "coolness" factor to their videos :D

Blargenth I dont know much about the detonation cords like the other comments but the speed of an electric current is the speed of light lol. The only thing that actually slows it down is what type of wire is used; the resistance coefficient of the material

Recording at the speed of light isn't possible yet. That wasn't electricity they was directly filming, it was a reaction with the det cord. However! Search for "Imaging at a trillion frames per second" on KZfaq. Its a TED talk where some clever people worked out how to get around it, and in the process made some amazing things happen.

Ok, that's good to know then, I should have known something like electricity would be too fast to film yet. But that still would be a good slow mo video, filming the detchord charge leading up to an explosion. Also Drakin SormHeart, I don't think they are in the UK. Gavin is a part of Rooster Teeth which operates out of Texas... so I don't think detchord would be a problem there.

Exactly, this is a recreation of lots of power ranger scenes, now that I think about it the production crews must've used powder paint also but maybe with a stronger firing device, that stuff always got good height. The only thing missing was the second round of explosions that followed the colored stuff.

I think it will be, as they do events with powder paint all over the world, often launching it at the people attending the event. I'm not sure how it's made, but hopefully it won't be hazardous to anything that lives in, or drinks from that area :)

Maybe you guys should consider a drone for the outside overhead shots.. or mount the HS cams to some kind of rig for overhead views. I can imagine this shoot would have looked spectacular from that point of view.

Every time I've seen a high framerate camera, they're very large. My guess is that is a technological barrier we cannot bypass currently. Drones can't carry that kind of weight so they can't use them yet.
