My mom, used to write our names on cups when our cousins came over. But, when it was just us kids at home, she had the colored tupperware plastic glasses, and we had to remember which color of glass we were using for that day.

I think I learned this from Jinne, I recently had a deep puncture wound on the bottom of my foot . Bandaids were useless, we wrapped a kotex pad around my foot then wrapped it with Curad self adherent wrap from Dollar Tree the wrap also provided enough pressure to control the bleeding. Having these supplies enabled me to avoid the ER and I packed the pads and wrap and we headed to Yosemite in the RV. THE Dollar Tree here carries Ironman Series Self-Adhrerent Wrap. Stays secure til you remove it. Great video.

I have used and will be using again tomorrow, a tarp tied onto the back of my riding mower to drag "stuff". Tomorrow it will be a hay bale, sometimes it is branches. I can't carry 50 pounds but my mower can drag it.

Something I don't really hear mentioned about is foot powder/foot care. We don't use it that often, but it's good to have on hand during the summers when your feet may sweat a lot. I also will purchase the foot cream, which sometimes is good for other uses; such as jock itch, ringworm, etc. I occasionally will purchase socks for family members as well, but put them back for just in case. And I also have a box of mismatched socks, some of the socks are the same kind but different colors, but would come in handy for if SHTF. I won't care if they are mismatched. lol Some socks like crew or tube socks can be used to help keep bandages on arms as well, just cut off the foot part and slide on the arm.

I watched a video today on using a piece of pool noodle to hold a solar light. They just cut an inch or two of a pool noodle and set it in a container then put the end of the light minus the post in the hole. So easy!

A friend of mine used 4-ounce cups as "portion control" for her daily snacks when she was watching her weight. That was 4 1-ounce snacks/day, spaced out during the day. When they were gone, that was it for the day. She started out using snack baggies but said the "tiny" amounts discouraged her. By putting them all in a cup, it seemed like there was more available. It worked for her, and she gradually got down to one 1-ounce snack/day ... if she wanted it.

I use the spray peroxide, it's good for cuts and stain removal. I recently got a couple of packs of original Ricola lozenges at DT. The bag is a little small but it came out cheaper per piece than the Grocery Outlet next door.

I went back to my buy two at a time recently. One of the prices that I noticed going up was the Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix. It was $.44 to start with, a couple of weeks ago it had climbed up to $.64 and today it was at $.78 a box. At the dollar tree they are higher still so I try to shop for them elsewhere. It is easier for us to use the box and not the bags at the dollar tree, but, that may change with the rising prices. Peanut butter, breakfast meats, coffee are all going up a little at a time. I like the bandage wrap you bought today. I purchased a couple last week. They are nice to have this style for changes or applying medication to wounds as needed. The self adhesive ones are okay when you do not need to do that. I also did butane and lighters this week for a stock up. I bought a box of the baby wipes to have here on hand as my hub is a trucker and takes them out with him to use. Paper plates, plastic cups, plastic ware this week at the dollar tree for my preps. Great video!

I went to a Dollar Tree yesterday & found some good items, but also didn’t find some items that I came to get. First off, this is the first time I've actually ever found matches at a Dollar Tree... Both the small boxes & the large kitchen match box size. I found some small plastic LED lanterns. They were available in blue, black, red, yellow & orange. They require 3 AA batteries, which wasn't included. I found some oddball flashlights, called "Flat Lights"... They are indeed flat... They are about 1/8 inch thick, about 4 inches long & about 1.5 inches wide, have 2 LEDs & are made in the shape of a flashlight, even having the picture of a flashlight printed on the front. Then, oddly enough, they are magnetic... Weird. I found a variety of what I call flat pack board games. They are identical copies of famous board games, but miniaturized & all the pieces are flat, made of paper or plastic. For example, you could store an entire Monopoly game in a file folder. I was happy to find some canned fruit for $1.25, something that's difficult to find in many grocery stores these days. (The selection was limited to only pineapple & mandarin oranges though) I found a bunch of food brands that I'm not familiar with & decided to do the 'try one' approach. I was able to stock up on various spices & sauces too. (Hot sauces, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Pace picante sauce, teriyaki sauce, etc) I got a 2 lb bag of jasmine rice for $1.25 & same for the brown rice. All in all, an okay shopping trip, but nothing to brag about. Edit: Today I decided to check out/test the small LED lanterns. They are rated at 100 lumens, which is not very bright. Well, anyway... They are light weight, require 3x AA batteries, have 3 strips of 4 COB LEDs & have a rotary switch. What surprised me is that the rotary switch is a VPOT! A variable potentiameter! A vpot is also what you could call a dimmer switch. So, this is a cheap, light weight lantern that uses common batteries, has a dimmer switch & is safe for use by children. I would allow kids to use this lantern as a night light in a scary power outage type situation. They're so cheap, you could buy 10 of them & not worry about the cost if the kids break them. I bought 2 the other day. If there are any left the next time I shop there I might get a couple more. Two thumbs up...

Did you try the flat flashlights? If so do they work well? I've seen them but haven't purchased one yet
@j.l.emerson592
@j.l.emerson592 9 күн бұрын
@missperfect2657 Yes, I tried it out yesterday. I give it a thumbs down rating. Why? It's a disposable flashlight, which is not so bad... What is bad is that it has a 'momentary' switch. That means that if you want the device to function, you must hold the switch the entire time. If you release the switch, the device ceases to function. Also, because it is disposable, there is no way to replace the button cell batteries without cutting into the plastic. The flashlight also has an expiry date because of the batteries. The expiry date is 1 year from the date of manufacture. For all I know, the batteries might be soldered in. So... I'll use it until the batteries wear out. Then I'll scavenge it for the magnet & LEDs.

@j.l.emerson thank you for your review of the flat flashlights. I won't buy one. I like a light that stays on!

@missperfect2657 You're welcome. I'm a gadgety person & because it was so cheap I decided to try it. It's no great loss because I can scavenge it for parts when it's no longer useful.
