Steve is a character I never really hated. He was a character that felt normal, like, what teenager _wouldn't_ act like him? Plus he had a huge crush on Claire, like, who'd blame him?

Steve's ultra stiff turning animation and Claire calling him a little boy is the funniest part about Resident Evil.

Steve's concept art got him looking like a FF10 character.

Fun fact: in the novelization of Resident Evil Code Veronica, even Claire mentions that Steve reminds her of "that actor from the Titanic movie" when she first sees him. It was a nice DiCaprio reference. She also comments on how he thinks himself as some video game hero, when noticing his overconfidence.

After hearing him say m'lady, Im offically sold on his original character.

Steve was a nice refreshing after very OG re characters like Leon, Jill ect. And as a side character i put him on the same level as Carlos

I honestly liked steve, whilst sure he isn't a favourite or anything, the reality is, he is just a kid who had a rough time and has issues trusting people because of this. He actually does a lot for claire and i liked his little side story too.

I've been playing this game since it came out. I never knew he said those things to Claire depending on how many zombies he's killed. I've always mowed down all the zombies in that area. Thats pretty awesome.

I always cry during Steve’s death scenes… I cry even more on Code Veronica than Dark side Chronicles. Especially when he tells Claire he loves her, I always kinda always wished he kissed her or at least got some kinda kiss before he died.

I’m actually hoping Steve was brought back like Wesker… and Steve & Claire have a reunion together in a game… and somehow Steve will be brought to the good side.

Code Veronica needs a remake

I beat code veronica for the first time earlier this year. I personally love steve. Justice for him

God.... Why I am torturing myself with this... Steve deserved better.

I've always liked Steve and even now I still want him to come back. He could be similar to Alexia, where she was put on ice for some years. As for his attitude I always figured he acted the way he did to put up a strong front because of his and Claires distrust. As the longer they were together, the more Steve seemed to calm down. So even if they stress that he's dead as long as it's not straight out confirmed, I'm gonna hold out hope. Plus, this lets me make fanfiction of him easier ;p

They made Steve look like Leon in his remaster LOL I always liked Steve in the games XD

Personally I don't mind if it's retconned that he survived somehow due to the virus. Wesker used to be a corpse himself at the end of the 1st game & was revived. But if he is brought back, it be interesting to let his mutation give him unique gameplay mechanics.

Darn I miss CV so much. Really hope Capcom does a remake on this one too. And please, Capcom, make the sniper rifle an infinite unlockable that can be used from the start instead of just a temporary weapon to fight the Nosferatu.

Steve was like a soap opera in one day. He made you laugh cry and be annoyed. I thought he was cute and probably thought he had only one shot at a girl which happened to be claire. Classic teenager.

I always find it cringey when Steve was saying I love you to Claire, even if he was dying. I mean they literally just met. But then again, he was basically just a teenager and teens usually do those awkward stuff.

I feel bad for Steve. Sometimes I think Steve was a replacement for Leon on Code Veronica. Since they dont want to kill Leon off because of his popularity so they replace him with Steve.

I'd love to see one on Piers. Considering he's in the Marhawa Desire, both plays, and mentioned in Rev2 several times, there's hopefully enough to dig up. He's one of my absolute favorites and I'm forever sad we might not see him again.

This is probably just a coincidence, but in regards to Steve's collar having the number 808 on it, there was a 3 part anime series called Cyber City Oedo 808. The 3 maim characters in it were criminals who were working for the police to reduce their prison sentences and wore explosive collars that would be detonated if they fell out of line. I doubt it has anything to do with it, but you never know.

Why steves death is so powerful I feel is in the first 3 games partner characters don't die sure Chris Jill Rebecca and barry can die depending on the player's actions in the first game but in canon, they survive I couldn't believe it when it happened I expected him to Survive.

I don't know if original Steve's look was purposely made to look like Leonardo DiCaprio, but everyone I ever met who played the game on Dreamcast, myself included, instantly noticed the similarity and cracked jokes about it. I'm sure Capcom got so sick of it that they changed his look because of it, even if the most plausible reason is that Leo didn't want his likeness to be used without permission.

In RE6, instead of creating Jake, they should have brought back Steve in his role but without the romantic relationship with Sherry. It would still be a characters with superhuman strenght but it would have made more sense than Wesker having a son plus fan service.

I kinda held out on the hope Steve survived, but knew that he wouldn't make it back in new release games.

I always loved Steve when I got Code Veronica on the ps4 I dyed my hair red.

I was shock when he died the first time I played it. I was thinking he was going to be one of the main cast. When he died I was like, "That man didn't have plot armor? Well sh*t!" Because the main cast survived all this crazy stuff that would have finished off most people. Hell the mc is doing the matrix in the opening. (Which I love & scream like crazy)

Am I the only person saw something in a RE5's fictional journalist myspace blog that under his friends list I saw icon with more modern lookin' Steve with BSAA like tactical gear (To be honest icon looked like Leon's pallet swap) with under name "Steve - am I alive?". Internet Archive couldn't bring those myspace page up and please tell me I'm not the only one saw this when RE5 came out.

I'm not usually one to alter aspects of the original game, but if I were to ever remaster/make Code Veronica, I would consider having Steve try to rest his head on Claire's after she does it to him instead of going for a kiss. It just seems more cute to me.

Have to wonder if Capcom would revive him given all the fan speculation that interpreted Wesker's taunt as being truthful. Personally, I could see something happening if it tied into Wesker's own possible revival, which has been speculated about since Umbrella Corps, but all the same, I'd rather they didn't play so loosely with life and death in the series, since it is already pushed to the limit with how many mutated characters are able to shrug off death until finally succumbing to it.

say what you want about steve, but in code veronica he is so memorable and unique- i hated him as a kid but in hind sight he brought the world so much joy/entertainment-- my friends and i still have inside jokes quoting him. steve from the darkside chronicles is a just boring forgettable nothing. people need to stop being so close-minded hating steve just because he isn't polished and focus grouped for mass consumption, and for better or worse learn to appreciate the strong reaction he brings out of the audience.

To be fair, the division of Capcom that handled the development of Darkside Chronicles portrayed Steve in a much more sympathetic light, though Alfred is still as creepy as ever, just sayin’. 😱

I hope we see Steve return in RE9 or at least in a spinoff

My sis loved CVX and I would watch her play and when Steve’s death scene comes up, I get out of the room. It’s just too sad and he was too young. You can certainly cover all of there facilities, laboratories, and on map locations including all of the B.O.Ws that were created by umbrella themselves and even the mercenaries that were hired by umbrella that went to raccoon city in resident evil 3 (Carlos Oliveira for example) to help rescue survivors.
