In this breathtaking time-lapse video, you can witness the creation of Ocean Cay up close. The construction project took place from 2017 to 2019 off the coast of Miami and was developed by MSC Cruises. The artificial island was built on a former sand quarry and now offers an exclusive resort with numerous leisure activities.
This video was captured using groundbreaking camera technology. For the first time, a camera system consisting of three individual camera housings with a total resolution of 150 megapixels was used. The images were taken at minute intervals and generated over 30 terabytes of data. By using the MKtimelapse V5 camera systems, impressive starry skies and weather phenomena could be captured, which are shown in this video.
All three systems were mounted on a single truss mast and covered a 270-degree field of view. The truss structure with a height of 20 meters was specifically erected to support the camera systems and withstand all tropical storms. This allowed for the perfect vantage point, so that the camera systems could capture unique footage.
