Amalfi Coast Travel Tips:
- I recommend flying into Naples or Rome then taking a rental car or public transportation to the coast.
- Driving on the coast can be intimidating, but definitely doable. I highly recommend getting a small car if you do decide to drive, the roads are very narrow. Renting a scooter is also a great alternative.
- Public transportation is another option to get around. Busses are available and I also recommend using ferries to get around to towns such as Positano and Amalfi. There is no traffic and the views are incredible from the ferry.
- Since the Amalfi Coast is so beautiful, it will be packed with tourists during the summer months. So I recommend visiting during the off season in months such as May or September.

I'm amalfitan and I can say that for the first part I agree. Good. But next time I could suggest other two or three things to do! :) Torre dello Ziro near Pontone, walking up from Amalfi; Valle delle Ferriere, and, my favourite, visit the beach in Conca dei Marini and then, on sunset, the beautiful sight from San Pancrazio. Very relaxing!

I was there by bike, driving from Salerno to St. Agatha Sui Due Golfi. 5 great days we will remember forever 😉

Nope. Spent three days in Positano. Next time we'll stay in Amalfi or one of the smaller towns for at least 10 days. The entire coast is magical.

Amalfi had always been my top3 dream places to visit and I'm glad that it realized before the Covid! It's even more than what I expected. Views are more than spectacular from coast to coast from Salermo to Sorrento and to Capri. You can't get enough with that place and it's one of the most wonderful thrilling drive I experienced. Still be my number 1 place and I will never get tired going back again.... Thank you for the wonderful video.

@@RyanShirley totally!😄😄😄 We spent 1 week in Amalfi coast and I don't remember how many times I drove from Sorrento to Salermo. Many times during the daylight and also during the night that it's pith black😅. Hahahha! So scary thrilling but one of the most beautiful drive I experience in my life. It's even more spectacular if you experience taking the bus and the best is to be either in the front or back window seat. Bus added height so it's even scary, hahaha! Especially taking the bus going to Ravello. Hahhaha!

We just took a trip to finish off our semester in London and WOW. It lived up to every expectation. We hit a ton of the spots you recommended and rented the personal boat in Capri-such a good suggestion. You are much appreciated Ryan 👏🏼👏🏼

I went 2 years ago and was blown away. Capri was my favorite part of my tour. I'm afraid of heights but I followed the advice of my tour guide and found the courage to take the sky lift to the top of the mountain. Best decision ever!

I average a trip to the Amalfi every couple of years but was lucky enough to do the Amalfi June 2020. Completely deserted, it was a once in a lifetime experience, I didn't think it could get any better. Btw I'm here now and might take that hike, also discovered an amazing restaurant called Kasai for those foodies out there.

We just visited the Amalfi Coast and it is beautiful! The food is delicious, the views, the towns on the cliffs, the shopping, the renting a boat to dive right in the ocean, my favorite were Capri and Positano. 🥰😍🥰🤩🤩😍😍

I've only been to these three locations: New Zealand (my first and to date best overseas holiday of all; it was the achievement of a 13-year dream), New Caledonia and Vanuatu. 🇳🇿 🇫🇷 🇻🇺 International travel will resume when it's meant to, I'm confident. Do you plan to visit any more countries this year?

We just drove through the coast a couple weeks ago. It was so packed, we couldn't even stop to take a dip anywhere until we got to Sorrento. There was a great swimming hole right on the western edge of the peninsula. I definitely want to go to Amalfi for a week or two next time.

@@RyanShirley The best way to do the coast is exactly what you did. I would also rent a scooter for the duration of the trip. I still think that Lake Como rivals the Amalfi Coast, even though I'm an ocean/sea guy.

I should have rented one 🤦🏼♂️ driving a car gave me constant anxiety! And I agree with lake como, we stayed in Varenna for a bit! Such a magical little town!

I have always kept 5 TERRA as my favorite paradise, but i have to admit The Almalfi Coast is true treasure. The people were so open arms and welcoming.. We and drank like kings and queens, no holding back. Food was great and again the residents were lovely. Compliments to the people who live and work there, the place is very well kept and in very high standards. It speaks for its self.. Never enough Fotos :)

Great tour of this area. It was getting so crowded with tourists, hope it was less now. The Internet has made some places much more well known than they used to be (formerly almost nobody ever heard of the Lofoten Islands). Though the Almafi Coast has always been popular, Positano has become a "Bucket List" thing. Capri is my favorite-you didn't include the Blue Grotto, but it can be over-touristed. The remains of Tiberius' Villa are there too, but not that much is left, unfortunately. Looked like prime sunny weather and clear water.

Cool video Ryan I ended up doing the Amalfi Coast as a day trip from Salerno (where I stayed overnight) to Sorrento stopping at Amalfi and Positano for 2 hours each and passing through Ravello before arriving in Sorrento around 5pm and stayed 3 nights there - from there we did the Capri Island day trip as well. Amalfi Coast is probably my favourite area of Italy

@@mdk006 A day trip to Capri Island is a good start and a day trip to Pompeii as well but there are some attractions to visit in Sorrento - unfortunately I don't remember all the tourist spots but here are some that I do: Cathedral and Bell Tower, City Walls, Cloister of San Francesco, Marina Grande, Marina Piccola, Villa Comunale Park and Basilica of Sant Antonino - there are a few others too but I cannot remember the names

What was soo amazing about The Blue Grotto, is not even blue, they put some lights underwater, a guy that sing while he maneuvers the small boat with other 6 people next to you. The true is that is an overprice place. Italy is overpriced in general, you are better off going in Spain, Greece, Croatia etc without being ripped off.

Hi Ryan, great content, thank you! Planning on going to the Amalfi Coast this July for 8 nights. The problem I'm having is trying to decide where to stay. Is it better to pick a base on the coast and do day trips to the other towns or split up the nights and find lodging in different locations? How hard was it getting to your Airb&bs or hotels?

Hey Lucy! I got two airbnbs in different locations, one in Praiano and other in Agerola. I thought splitting it in two locations was very nice! And wasn’t too hard to find airbnbs

Amalfi was by far my favorite town when I did the Amalfi coast a few years ago. I would put Positano second & Capri as my third. I can’t wait to return. I also recommend Ponza Island!

Thanks Ryan for the tips. I will go there next week and added Minori on my list thanks to your video. I actually spotted a hiking trail around there called "Sentiero dei Limoni", which looks nice. Of course I planned to do the "Sentiero dei Dei" as well. I was planning to use public boats to see the coast from the sea but having a private one like u did seems far more appealing. Did you need a licence ?

Wow, the Sentiero dei Limoni looks really nice! I'd definitely recommend a private boat if you can. Its probably best to get a reservation one day before, and you don't need a license :)

Ah I can’t remember, but it was on the beach right next to “boat rental positano”, but you can rent a boat from so many places on the coast

yes bus rolling every 30 min from Positano to Amalfi, it's an exciting moment as well when the drivers arguing and sometimes even scream haha because cars block the road, the horn must work all the time, otherwise you have a problem... haha

Yeah, we were there before COVID by bike, going from Salerno to Sant Agatha Sui Due Golfi, and back. After that you can handle crazy bus drivers believe me 😂. But well worth it as we could go to place you can't otherwise.

@@josephdudek4381 in Maiori we rented it on the place. A day before travel. Very easy, they made a copy of credit card before the travel and took payment after (rent +fuel)
