@@InTheWoodyard I had a fire on New Year Day a few years ago, it was all pine branches covered in snow and you know how black that smoke gets. Well I had a visit from 5 or 6 county police cars and 1 Minnesota Highway Patrol car. Only one of them walked out to see what I was burning. First police officer said he saw the fire from over 6 miles away and thought a house was on fire. No tickets were given, they told me to call in next time I burn.

@Bozemanjustin2 жыл бұрын
I knew it when I saw you stacking the logs. You're not going to have enough oxygen with that setup. Sure enough you had smoke and you had pulsing. I was going to recommend that you need to have a little bit of spacing in the logs, and it started to run better once you developed some spacing. Smoke is just unburned fuel, you might as well go for a perfect burn by adding in enough oxygen. Think about a campfire burning in the open, can't get more oxygen than that, and it burns just fine So if you're going to take advantage of the draft effect of a chimney, then draft enough air LOL. Simply spacing the logs quarter inch apart at both levels should be more than enough oxygen So maybe next time have some big metal nuts and stack the logs with air gaps to begin with
@InTheWoodyard2 жыл бұрын
Yup, more air in on the bottom was needed!
@Bozemanjustin2 жыл бұрын
@@InTheWoodyard yes, but you're limited by diameter. Having additional air inlets up the shaft would solve the problem without changing the diameter of the interior. You will still have plenty of draw, as the added air will add more combustion which will add more draw.

@Revellersaws3 жыл бұрын
Hot fire pushes warm air upwards, causing cold air to be pulled in all around the fire, keeps the snow cold. Only reason you stay warm is the radiant heat, which is not super effective on light colors (white snow)
