When you’ve failed N1 about 3 times or so.. -------------- Beware - if you pass the test in Japan your “certificate” is literally the size of a post card. lol - I didn’t believe it at first so I called to make sure. I guess it doesn’t matter but still… in case you imagine framing it and hanging it on the wall… it will be compact.

And yes, I also call out "tadaima" when coming home - empty of humans or not. And saying "Ohaio" to the furbabies every morning. Also having said trained furbabies in Japanese. Blonde hair is considered exotic in Japan. The dude talking about spoilers is full of crap. In japan everyone has black hair and has the young eren haircut. As a foreigner you would probably look closer to armin and want to cosplay eren but as a more japanese oriented person you would cosplay as armin instead due to his blonde hair and more foreign look

Actually if it's like what happened to me, you will start thinking in English (your second language) when you're trying to speak Japanese (your third language) and Spanish will be nowhere in sight. For me my order of languages that I speak/have studied is English, Japanese, Chinese, Russian/Korean (kinda the same time frame/skill level). When I'm trying to speak Chinese and I'm not paying attention or don't know how to say something, Japanese comes out. When I'm trying to speak Russian or Korean, Chinese comes out and so on. Brains are weird, man. 😂 ~:~

I regularly have issues remembering Italian words when speaking Italian, only remembering them in English... and remembering English words when speaking English, only remembering them in Italian or Japanese. The worst moments are when I don't remember the word at all, I can only visualize the concept (for example, I can't remember the word "trustworthy" in any language but I can visualize someone touching someone's shoulder and say "I know you can do this"). It's weird.

Remembering the kanji 1. Teaches you how not to forget how to write a kanji I can write like 2000 of them whenever I feel like. And yeah, no one cares. Either people assume I’m lying or just remember that it doesn’t matter if I can do that. Doesn’t help with much except I can write notes in Japanese to myself instead of just using English for some reason But yeah, Heisig is good for specifically writing kanji

My wife and I only visited Japan as tourists for a couple of weeks, but houjicha is probably our favorite tea. (We were surprised to see that it is pretty difficult to find places that sell tea 'to go', it's way easier to buy coffee.) Anyhow, every day we went out to (mostly different) Starbucks and got largest houjicha to go. (Of course without milk, they always asked about milk, I doubt they ask as much about milk in England!) Anyhow, the reaction of staff felt... Somewhat special? Every time? I definitely don't have enough experience of the Japanese culture to parse it correctly. Something like surprise, pride, and gratitude? It left us with the feeling that houjicha is underappreciated in the world...

In New Zealand you have to put on sunscreen even when it’s cloudy because of the hole in the ozone layer. I remember in primary school there was a sports competition that a bunch of kids went to and like 5 teachers. Everyone came back sunburnt, including the teachers, because it was cloudy so they didn’t wear sunscreen.
