a weld that holds is a good weld. When finished with a bead hold the tig torch over the hot weld for 3 seconds till it cools down so it doesnt oxidize. It will be very brittle if you dont

As a Talon owner, I am so happy you guys are showing it capability. Welding aluminium look good for just starting. You should talk to your weld supply store about Dye Penatration for testing for weld leaks. It's cheap and supper effective to give you piece of mind.

I think Sous held back on those laps! Usually he is on the edge of sanity when he is driving. This time he was the least aggressive of you three. However you guys are living the dream and having a great time! Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see 2JP running again. You will have to dial the suspension in to keep it from wanting to stand on the bumper though. I think we all want 1500+HP on the dyno. You know, just to justify the billet block and the expense that went into phase 2 of the build.

My tip for aluminum welding make sure it’s clean material and filler rod. And if it’s thick or has lots of mass pre heat it even a few seconds of a propane torch just to boil the moisture off the material does wonders. Once it’s hot should flow amazing and to get the mirrored dime stack welds is just a combination of feeding speed of the wire and the travel speed and torch angle.

When Tig welding aluminum use a higher table or a lower chair. Finding your ideal posture makes a huge difference on the steadiness of your hands. Once it clicks its like riding a bike.
