I turned our flow upside down recently. We were having trouble with burnout and math was getting the slide. It has worked amazing the last couple of weeks. We are about to finish up several things this week.

Currently I have my kindergarter and 1st grader doing BYL Lv 1 together (next year I’m going to split it and the kindergarter is going to do BYL LV 0 while the 2nd grader will be doing BYL LV 2, but they can listen in to the stories and I’ll be doing some light preschool with my youngest). I currently do our together work first unless I get done with my morning chores early while my oldest is doing her chore, then I might get my kindergarter on board with doing a little of his separate subjects while his sister finishes up so we can do together work. My youngest tends to listen in on the stories until he gets bored and wanders away to play. Sometimes if I’m still working on a task or I just feel we have the wiggles too much, we go outside and start the day with some PE. I honestly need a better system so I’m not always flying by the seat of my pants, but c’est la vie. Lol

At my home we tend to do core independent subjects first, group subjects second, and then the fun extras if there's time. Math and reading start our day as they take the most brainpower for my kiddos.

What would you do if you had, say, two more kids (or five more 😅)?
@MakingEverydayMagic

Combine as much as possible! I would also be choosing as much as we could that could be done independently. You might consider a block style schedule, where you're teaching math and language arts daily but not every kid is working on it daily. I would also probably start individual lessons with your middles. That way, the bigs can get started independently, and the Littles can come along a little later.

Hey there! So Totally Random question do you have a separate space for the child that’s working independently? We struggle with the independent worker being highly distracted by the noise of whatever lesson I’m doing with their sibling/ just being unfocused on being independent. So I’m also wondering about which age independent work starts being more productive ?🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Not a separate space, more like separate areas of the same room. If one of mine is struggling to stay focused, they are welcome to work at the dining table (separate room) or their bedrooms.

They both love to offer the correct answer if their sister doesn't get it. 🤷‍♀️

How are you almost done? I still have 50 days left. Are you required to have 180 days?
@MakingEverydayMagic

Nope, I'm not. I planned out a few extra weeks of fluff time, but once we decided to take a May vacation, I knew we wanted to be done by then. I usually start first week of August and like to finish by mother's day.
