I genuinely enjoyed your content. But plz do ur research on what that guy David is spreadiing. The ICC, every major NGO, g-cide experts (including Isrli) have said isrl is plausibly committing g-cide. We need to teach our children real history and this is part of the reason I'm homeschooling. Our media and govt supress info (and outright lie). This guy ain't it

Thank you for sharing. We are going into our first year of homeschooling and trying to get my incoming first grader to work on his handwriting and begin to learn cursive. Would you recommend us begin cursive in second? Since I don’t exactly see a 1st grade cursive

My daughter chose their 2c (cursive) instead of their 2m (manuscript). It included both! Started with print, then moved on.

If you’re ever way up north in Montana, there is a small town called Bynum and you can schedule a tour with The Montana Dinosaur Museum to go fossil digging with Paleontologists in an active dig site. It’s something we plan to do when our youngest is a bit older (she’s only 2). It’s also not too far from Glacier National Park too if you wanted to add that onto a trip. It’s beautiful there.

I didn't love this program enough to not shop around. I am going to suggest looking into Michael Clay Thompson and the Poodle Series. My youngest did AAR 4 and AAS 3 with the Poodle Series for introductory grammar this past year. We are moving her into MCT level 1 and AAS 4 this coming year. Let me find a video link.

This is hard for me to answer. We have close family in the community, and this is a constant topic of discussion for us. We attend pride activities and events. We never hesitate to explain when this is relevant. However, I don't think we actively teach it because it's such a large part of our personal lives. As with all marginalized groups, we highlight heros and discuss their oppression.

The comments on this video have the matierials lists linked: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aJdhpbynm5inpqM.html I believe this video will explain my feelings on it: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gZ-iiLl417unoYk.html Basically, despite looking ahead of time, it took awhile to find that it is not secular. I can not now find the website language that I found problematic. We tend to favor science as a group subject and these workbooks were not our style. It originally seemed very exciting but in practice was quite boring and tedious. There are better science options for us. While we didn't love it, it is possible that it could be a great fit for you!

We do a lot of spurs of the moment trips all year along and not school in December so we don't do summer. ( Also leave in Caribbean so weather is always summery) When a school book finish just start the next. I take pictures of relevant pages and donate it to the library. Fun stuff I have a note with the date last used and when I see dust on it I ask my lids to try again if they not a fun I donate it to the orphan center down the road. We have most of my stuff on e-book so it reduce clutter. Also don't really follow the teachers manuals rather take a lesson a day approach.

I have found that if I ask my daughter how much more time would she like to stay/play helps with the transition. I normally will ask her when we have about 20 minutes left before we have to leave. If she says 30 mins I state what time our next activity is happening and tell her the time has to be less than 20 minutes. I then set the timer and it's very rare to have push back when it's time to leave.

Yes! My son asks for reminders, "How much time until we need to leave?". He likes to plan ahead to see if he's got time to finish one game or activity before we head out the door. I love being early/on time, so I am pretty strict about being out the door when I tell him.

I agree 100% I just wish I didn’t have to go through many years of the hard way to figure it out. The other thing is to talk about behavior expectation for where we are going. Everything goes better if they know what is happening and if they might have to sit still, or just have to stay in my view and what they can do to meet those expectations.

This is great advice! The one thing I would add is that for the values section, it goes beyond just secular vs religious. History is a great example. If you want a progressive, diverse, own voices curriculum that centers underrepresented history and doesn't white wash anything, you probably won't like the (afaik totally secular) Tuttle Twins series or Prager U Kids. If you want history to inspire patriotism and don't feel your kids are old enough to learn the hard parts of history, you probably won't like Oh Freedom or River of Voices (both secular). So don't forget to think about these things too. Same goes for how much you care about diversity in literature or what topics are okay to talk about at certain ages, and I'm sure there are ways this comes up in math and science too.

1 of 5 for Nearly every history or science curriculum out there. 😅 I think I might be picky! So I just made my own this year! I would call it more of a pivot because I used the good components of all the “Almost 3’s”. It took a ridiculous amount of time , but I’m hoping it will be a good fit!

A 1 of 5 we drop very quickly and may or may not replace but a 3 of 5 we can work with and adapt to our style for this year and work on finding something new next year. I have found that what works with a 1-2 grader is not what works with a 4-5 grader so our home school is always evolving. I’ve done the same curriculum for 2 years then decided we need a change. I also found that all in one curriculums rarely work because they seem to be too similar across the subjects and we need variety. For example my daughter likes videos for social studies or science but hates instructional videos for math. It has only taken 4 years to figure some of this out. By the time she graduates I’ll have it down. 😂

My kids were able to go to my husband's air force academy class reunion. A lot my husband's friends had to leave their children back at their duty station with a grandparent or close family members. They were surprised when we showed up with our kids and they didn't have to be in school so many days...we also stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge and could see the academy stadium from our room. We also went to the beach a week before Memorial Day weekend in California. We stayed in military cabins and we practically had the entire beach to ourselves. Usually the cabins are booked solid especially on days the kids have off. We love the homeschool lifestyle.
