Ladies - please watch the clip of Manson's interview from Bowling for Columbine. If you like him now, you'll love him after you hear what he has to say. The Columbine shooters actually didn't listen to Manson; in fact, they were not fans at all. He just happened to be the big controversial rock star of the moment, so the media pointed the finger at him.

It’s true what everybody says, he’s a very smart person. Intelligent, knowledgeable, and well spoken. I’d actually be super interested to see a reaction to some of his interviews from the past. Especially ones dating back to the late 90s or so where he would be accused of influencing school shootings and other violent crimes. His responses were always so calm and composed, and even more so they were logical and made you think. You could tell a lot of interviewers just thought they were going to have an easy time tearing apart the “freak show” and were very taken back by his responses.

"Michael Moore: If you were to talk directly to the kids at Columbine or the people in that community, what would you say to them if they were here right now? Marilyn Manson: I wouldn't say a single word to them, I would listen to what they have to say and that's what no one did." - short interview piece from documentary movie Bowling for Columbine, 2002. And people wondered why we turn to him and not our families and teachers.

I definitely believe Marilyn Manson's covers of a lot of new wave songs really highlight their meaning/intention with his sound anesthetic. Generally new wave seems to be portrayed as pop or light, but even radio favorites like "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" are pretty gib and dark.

Manson has said before since his name derives from Marilyn Monroe which would have been the good of society and Charles Manson the bad of society, his name is the good and bad of society. Think about it. There is a lot of "positive music videos and songs" out there but then you have Manson who people may think is "really disturbing or bad". So he balances the world out. You can't have the good without the bad. Might I suggest "Coma White", "Personal Jesus"', "I Don't Like The Drugs But The Drugs Like Me", "mOBSCENE", "Tainted Love" are are really good ones he has made. He is a really good artist and makes a very good point with lyrics. He is also very intelligent when you listen to his interviews. Thanks Grannies! Love this channel ❤

This was the first song I ever heard from Manson. I think this was really sort of his break out song where a lot more people became aware of him. And I was like 12 or 13 years old when this came out... I'd never seen anything like it. I became instantly fascinated by him and I've been a fan ever since. In regards to the Columbine shooting: The media nearly destroyed his career by blaming him, and the shitty part was that the kids who shot all those people didn't even like his music.

I love this story, but my mom had the pleasure of seeing Manson live once. She and her friend had seats around the edge of the stadium they were at, and they could kinda see backstage. She said he was up running around the stage, very active for the whole show, and then after the last song he went backstage and literally collapsed into the arms of a couple of his roadies exhausted. Marilyn Manson, being the icon he was, of course started getting chants for an encore. She said he caught his breath for a moment, and went back out and did another song, just as active as he was for the whole set. Amazing musician and performer, and as soon as you start digging you can see how much passion he puts into his work.

As a 90s goth kid, and with a bit of hindsight, at the end of the century i believe we were trying to bring an end to the old guard way of things to find our true places in this existence. Marilyn Manson showed me the true face of it and by result gave me the strength to find my true self through mine own darkness. Later as i was disillusioned and saw my god for the human he is. But a lesson came through the disappointment is also a lyric of his. "What i wanted, what i needed, i got from me". I will always love him for all he showed of himself to me for me to find all of myself to show.

"You should ask WHY they're watching it." I wish my mother felt that way but her extreme religious views stopped that from happening. I couldn't watch these things until I was older.

No matter what answer you gave, your mother likely would’ve just thought the reason why you were watching it was because Satan was influencing you.

I love what the two of you are doing! I was introduced to Manson in 6th grade and instantly became a fan. If you get a chance listen to “1996” or “The Reflecting God”.

Manson is seriously creative; what a video treatment for this cover. Been a fan since the first album got some play on college radio (Dope Hat and Lunchbox). Saw him live on three early tours and got his first CD autographed at a record store signing on that first album tour. He's the 90s version of Alice Cooper, mixed with a bit of Trent Reznor.

I caught this video around 1am one night when it first came out. I was maybe a freshman. I would be lying if I said this video and this artist didn't change my life from that night on.

I absolutely love marilyn manson. He will forever be my favorite artist. Yea much of his music is very weird to most people lol and I love seeing people's reactions to him. The man is in his early 50s now and still making music. His new album was released on September 11th. You should listen to his new single "We are Chaos"...it's soooo different from his earlier music. Also check his songs Coma White & Running To The Edge of the World...2 of my favorites. Also consider watching some of the interviews with Manson. He is highly intelligent...might change some people's opinions of him. I love this guy

This was a wonderful reaction as always ladies. To your point about the school shooting. There are interviews with Manson and I remember distinctly in one of them that it ate him up inside that anyone would connect him to something so terrible.

One of my favorite covers ever. When you listen to the lyrics, they’re a bit disturbing and Manson’s version is so much more fitting, in my opinion, than the original.
