If its sponsors that can relate to their viewers its not so bad. If its random crap like raid shadow legends then its very annoying lol. But not sponsors keeps that old youtube feel and I like that

Well, mostly, I'm talking things like literally any mobile game, food shipment services, supplements, workout shakes, ETC. An occasional block on tools or parts that pertains to the content of the channel isn't gonna bother me one bit. I was pointing out how genuine Joe must be about his craft to not have that stuff in his videos like some channels do in every single one of theirs.

Joe I'm 29 years old and honestly you've helped me over the years with bike engines the Xr 250R when stripping the engine there is a tiny spring that is in the head if you lose that it's game over I used a ball point pen spring and it worked amazingly 🤣 I didn't know for days what was wrong freshly rebuild still didn't start re stripped watched one of your XR videos and found the problem within a hour I've been watching for years keep up the good work

So nice and refreshing to see a second life for these old boys !! In the mid 80s I worked at a small motorcycle shop " cycle exchange " and my 1st project was a gold wing engine overhaul, this brings back so many memories, thank you Joe , absolutely fantastic 👏

I just picked up my first one last week. 82 Goldwing Aspencade 1100 with 70k miles. Out of curiosity I did a cold compression test (about 34 degrees out in the barn) and the cylinders all had over 165psi, I couldn't believe it. These motors are certainly impressive.

Hello from Brazil, I imagine your emotion, my father had one just like this, and I recently I bought a 1975, but in blue, with only 7,000 miles, when I rode it for the first time, I cried remember my Dad ! the early GL1000's like this one had an issue where if you left them on the side stand for too long oil would seep past the rings and collect in the left hand cylinders, which is most likely why they were fouled up. It could even hydrolock the engine in some cases, so best to keep it on the centre stand. beautiful bike, it's great to hear it run after so many years. I'm sure your grandpa would be proud!

The Goldwing standard. Rare bike and the most collectable of the Wings. I bought one last year. Had not run for over 30 years. I made sure it had good title and the engine was not seized, and so I bought it for 300 dollars and used a Home Depot truck to get it home. Another 76 dollars. I got it running well. Fast bike and fun to ride. Now getting ready to convert it to electronic ignition. Mine is a 1979 Goldwing standard. 1979 was the last year the Goldwing was made in Japan.

It's a testament on how solid these engine really are. Pretty much if the motor isn't locked up, they'll run. Carbs are a bit finicky, but everything else is usually solid. Goldwings have earned their reputation for reliability.

Man im literally just absolutely happy for you in knowing just how much this has to mean to ya and especially when considering your grandpa is the one who got you interested in working on motors. I feel like not many grandkids have the pleasure to own a piece of memorabilia from there grandparents cause I know I didn't get that sort of luxury with any of mine so very blessed my man and I can guarantee he's definitely 💯 proud of ya on this one and smiling ear to ear fs, congratulations and great content as always. Just so fascinating to watch you as you find these cool bikes here and there and then systematically go through them, with the utmost patience and humor! I enjoy watching you interact with the sellers, and then the troubleshooting process and then seeing these bikes run AND your enthusiasm riding them once again! I've learned so much from you and watching your videos on so many levels! I'm 62 and been riding happily since 11 years old! Keep up the great work.

I very much agree. I can't believe I watched nearly 2 hours of this (both videos) but I found it truly fascinating. You appeared to not know the Goldwing, but know engines which made the process of elimination much more interesting. More please on this bike as I'm considering one!

It's an honor to bring back these old machines. Especially when it belonged to loved once at some point. My wife's uncle just passed. Before he did, he passed on to me his 2006 kawasaki prairie 360. It sat In The shed for 10 years. Prior to that was barely used. I went thru the whole quad. Its mint now. My wife rides that quad now. It brings back memories for her. She tells me about times before we met.

Very impressive . Good to see the younger generation taking interest in the older Japanese iron . I had a 75 that I restored to original . There used be a group called the classic wing club . Don't know if they are still around . There is plenty info on the web about aftermarket parts such as belts and hoses . The best update is Gl1500 coils and dyna electronic ignition . Save your starter by using carb cleaner .Keep up the good work .

Worked a Honda shop back in 76, spent the summer taking these things out of the crate, prepping them, and test driving them up and down Woodward Avenue, big fat rockets!

good job! you're gotta be doing the carbs more than once if you don't clean up the gas tank, you can see how dirty it was when it leaked on the floor, the gas lines are probably breaking up inside also I would change them also! Don't forget to change them timing belts....very very important that you do that for peace of mind. Inline fuel filter is another thing you should look at ! Try a clean source of fuel from an auxiliary tank after you do the carbs....just saying. Be well.

Remember doing a full strip and rebuild of one of these engines when I was at college in early 80's . Was a nice project, the crank was very short. I also noticed the pistons had valve cutaways for four valves, just like yours. By the way, blunt scraper is much kinder to the gasket surface, than a sharp blade. All the best.

Can't wait to hear what you think of it after riding it. I didn't expect to like mine as much as I did after my first ride. Was used to sport bikes and didn't think I'd enjoy riding a big heavy bike like a Gold Wing. Boy was I wrong. I've taken many long trips on it and only retired it, temporarily, after my son was born.

all for grandpa, i bought a snowmobile where my grandfathers cemetary is. its a little salute to him, i rebuilt and replaced everything i could on it. i wax that thing . if it has a spot of grease its wiped off. but i ride it alot. its so fun just to put around on !! all for gramps hed get a kick out of it. nice work joe!!

A brass wire wheel on a drill works pretty well for cleaning up the surfaces on the heads pretty quickly. Also, you could clamp a small pair of vice grips to that razor blade and get a lot more done faster with that and be safer. I love watching your videos man, thank you, keep up the good work!

On metal gas tanks that have rust. Put a couple strong magnets next to the petcock under the gas tank to keep rust from getting in the carburetor.

Hey it's great you got it started!! My uncle just died a few days ago. He loved bikes and always had one!! I had a friend that had an 87 gold wing. It was fast!! Great job. Looked like the right side wasn't running though. Love you raw videos. And f the haters!! Because you do it raw!!

Condolences bud, been there, crushing, you have a great piece of him to fix and ride with him in your heart. Mine left me 3 farm bikes all 3 ATCs. They're still around and still running good. Gave one to my sis, one to my cuz. Kept the really nice cherry one for me, 85 big red. My dad uses it on his farm to pull little yard trailer with picking leaves, sticks, etc.

Had a shot on one of those back in the day. Smooth and powerful and surprisingly good handling for it's size, but I was riding an XS1100S at the time so even an H2 handled well by my standards 😂 Your grandad is so chuffed that you're doing this m8. You're gonna have a ball riding it.
