There are 3 F-35 models and none have VTOL. STOVL and VTOL are not the same.

@@superskullmaster Technically the B can VTOL as required by contract, but won't be utilizing that capability operationally.

@@danielh1708 I am aware, so can the Harrier, but for the F-35 the max weight for landing vertically is roughly 40,000lb. That leaves no room for a mission payload other than maybe 2 sidewinders and a 20 minute flight.

@@superskullmaster I was just correcting you. You said "none have VTOL" and that is false. The B had to be able to VTOL per the contract. Oh, and it would only do it with less than a full fuel load and no stores, operationally. There you go...

@@MilSpecCress Nope. The LANTIRN system is made up of two pods; the AN/AAQ-13 and the AN/AAQ-14, this jet is only carrying one of those pods plus the AN/AAQ-33 Sniper ATP.

@@iTzskyline1 Most definitely not. F-15 intakes are variable to control the airflow into the engines based on speed, altitude and throttle setting.
