Great short video .just what I need this morning with bikram yoga. Was doing a he long stretch routine at yoga studio but have noticed decrease performance. In the past few was doing dynamic stretches and slower movements and I was better during class. Thanks again really enjoy all of your videos

I've found that the knee rotation ends up hurting my knees instead I do high knees followed by butt kicks it seems less hard on my knees otherwise this is a good video

Execellent !! I always do a general body warmup before any serious physical activity .I don't static stretch until after I'm finished .thanks !

Many of the studies on this subject have looked at cirque du Soleil. The conclusion they have reached is that there is stretching and there is warm up. Warm up is good before exercise as explained in this video. Stretching is good when you want to loosen your muscles and the tissues surrounding your joints. .But stretching is not good for when you intend to stress the muscles and joints with a heavy work load. You increase the risk of injury and reduce performance if you stretch before a heavy work load. It is important to separate the two activities in your mind. Even this video interchanges the terms. They are different concepts, done in an entirely different manner with completely different impact on the body. Warm up, do your heavy exercise or cardio and then stretch for maximum benefit from all three.

This is true. It feels like blood is flowing to those areas and when those muscles are engorged with the blood they are much stronger.

You fail to explain why long static stretches are detrimental to working out.

It's hypothesized that the stretching relaxes the muscles too much leading to an increased risk of injury and less explosiveness but the scientist said they would need to do more studies to determine why this is all they know right now is that long static stretching at the beginning of the work out decreased performance and increased risk for injury.
