8:55 If I had a nickel for every time I see someone that has a raw card that says “will get a PSA 10” and still ask for the PSA 10 price I would be rich. Nice jacket too, Beverly Hills Polo Club was my favorite a kid in the ‘90s.

Love the stories as always...The HEAD-SCRATCHER--it all boils down to what someone is willing to pay and/or trade. I think back to my past and I land on 1989. I had a factory set of 1988 Topps--(only significant value now would might be the Tom Glavine) but I remember a friend swapping out the Canseco and McGwire cards for a 1962 Babe Ruth "Babe Hits 60 card" (I would suspect it would grade out as a PSA 2 maybe a 3), but as far as I consider I won the long game and it is one of my favorite cards in my collection...bottom line goes back to as always collect what you enjoy. Have a great week!!!!

I hate when people think everything they have is gem mint. Ive had a few potential buys ruined because of Psa 10 pricing and those ROTTEN "Your childhood items are now worth a fortune!" fluff articles. I feel bad for sellers that genuinely think stuff is worth 100x what it it actually is.

Yeah, but it's also a case of recognizing when something is too good to be true. To think you have the good fortune of having a valuable collection in your closet when every other member of your generation could have the same is just ridiculously naive.

That last story is pretty funny. He's one of those guys who actually believed his cards were going to put his kids through college. Sorry my friend, it doesn't actually work that way with 80s baseball. Also...old unopened cards have always scared me. I totally understand using caution with a $4000 purchase. People are shady. They used to search packs, now they weigh packs & boxes. I actually go back and forth between feeling sympathy and contempt for the dudes at Walmart breaking out the little scales to find the $10 relic card in a blaster box.

She showed me a text from her next sale she's going to do. In the list of things to sell is a collection of "about 15,000 cards in boxes and binders." It's been a while since I've had that many cards in my possession and I was wondering what it would even look like.... and there you had a picture for me. lol I'm not getting my hopes too high, but I'm looking forward to seeing what's in there. I'm old enough to remember those cello packs sold like that in 1969 and also 1968. The 1968's were 10 or 12 cards for a dime if I remember right and I think the 1969's were just 5 cards because they were a nickel a pack. I used to steal nickels from my mom to buy cards after school. The person at the garage sale might have owned a store 50 years ago or maybe his dad did. Nice score on the Jeter rookies. Also, 81 Topps Baseball is deceivingly tough to find in high grade. I must have gone through 200 or 300 Valenzuela/Scioscia rookies and not a single one I had would grade a PSA 10. At that point I was happy to get a 9.

Some people think a PSA 6 is a mint condition card that would grade a 10 lol What world do these people live in? because I got to go to that world and make a few sales lol

I like that approach. All my ungraded cards are now officially PSA 10s. Whole collection up for auction - starting bid 2 million dollars.
