Ovens Rocky Mountain Bushcraft

8 ай бұрын

Greg is out on Vancouver Island with his off-grid smoker, ready for some salmon. Greg finds himself teaming up with a local who knows some of the best honeyholes in the area.
Greg is a self-taught survivalist from Canal Flats, British Colombia, who, since he was a boy, has read nearly every book on the topic. When he is not out in the wilderness, he is a professional dry-waller. He started his first bow drill fire when he was thirteen and spent the next forty years learning bushcraft and studying plants and edibles. He has even developed some of his own survival techniques and is a skilled hunter with both a bow and a slingshot.

I love the way Greg Casts. The way he throws his hand out to the side with an open hand. that is exactly how my Grandfather used to cast when he took me out fishing. My Grandfather was my hero. He could do anything and was an amazing bushman and hunting guide. I miss you Opa. God we had great times together!

I haven't been camping or fishing in a few years (I'm in my early 20s) but I would definitely recommend it to everyone especially those who like nature but don't find themselves in it often due to living in a city for example like I am now. It's more than relaxing, it's more than fun, it makes you feel as if things just make sense. I hope you get to experience it as I hope I get to again.

It's nice to see Greg has made friends. I knew a old guy who kept up and restored those old cars, I bought an engine off him for my Ranger and stayed in touch. I visited him until he passed away (South Street Auto in Gorham). The crazy thing to me was much of those old cars were made of wood, other than the main frame. His shop was mostly wood working tools, and sheet metal hammers. If I was to bet on it, that rumble seat, and everything supporting it, had a frame made of wood.

I'm happy and content just to see you make a fire in the forest and grill a piece of meat and a little fishing. It's the simple peacefulness you share that keeps me watching your episodes all the time. You keep it simple and be who you are, a hero to us stressed souls who spend too much time in the big cities. Thanks for everything and I hope you don't feel stressed about creating new episodes. A fire in the forest is all that is needed to at least make me happy. Greetings from a painter in Sweden
