Last one they can just attack your top foot and make you open up so to counter that (only if your already an elite defender) cross your feet over instead of sliding if you get beat a bit
@bobiobeal426010 ай бұрын
Crossing your feet isn't the best option because when you do open yourself up and cross your feet that's when the best ankle breakers happen. The offense has you shuffling to one side crossing over your feet so when they switch directions fast you can barely recover
@7Inkredible710 ай бұрын
@bobiobeal4260 offense always has advantage. People are required nowadays to cross feet. Shuffling doesn't work anymore due to increased athleticism. Crossing is almost required now.

in the last one it only works if your playing up on them take away one side and force them into help or a tough angle around the basket
@monkeguy22039 ай бұрын
Not if you angle them away from a crowded spot
@jaylloydgeonzon6315 ай бұрын
The cross-foot is an optional move; it's dependent on your opponent. That's why I always start locking down a player in a second-round game. In the first game, I've studied his movements and let him execute his BAG moves, footwork, offhand, and strong hand.

Do not do the last one bc the defender can attack your top foot side and if you try to turn your hips you will either fall, get beat, or get countered, 2 weeks ago I took a kids ankles bc his feet were angled and he wanted me to go right so I hit an in and out with my right hand and whipped a cross to the left he tried to turn his hips and he fell

Not true. He's still dictating where he wants him to go but smart and quick enough to know if he attacks his front foot to open up his hips and cut him off. It's really not that hard. Play smart....

Im ngl on that last one it leaves your top foot vunerable the first stance you showed is perfect for a zone defense because it allows you to shift side to side. And also that first one should only be used in drop coverage as if u know the player can only shoot the midrange and drive dont give him 2 points of attack

In the last one, my coach used it before. We were doing 3v3 match ups to help us communicate and connect with each other, and the winners get to fight the coach. My teammate was on the wing and both the elbows were occupied. Only the corner was exposed, so my coach used that stance to bait him and get the ball since dribbling to the baseline was a tough task but it my teammate goes to the free throw line.

@@Jay-tx2wz get some reps in and watch a ton of film. go to your local y and join in some runs. you’re going to be terrible for the first few months but it doesn’t matter; you’re fighting time and need the repetitions. don’t worry about your handle. you can get shifty later. for now, just focus on three level scoring, ie the 3ball, middies, and finishing. hustle hard and get conditioned quickly. there’s certain skills that pair well together, like 3 and d, which provides all of scoring, defense, and spacing. if you’re trying to make a team or get playing time quickly, mastering those skills will make you a valuable roleplayer. in the long run, you’re going to need to add some moves to your bag and develop the rest of your skills as well. good luck man.

@@ChadBeetle thank you I’m jus barely 6’ barefoot and I’m having trouble getting to the rim and finishing, is there any film u think I should watch? also I’ve been working on my shot and I’ve improved , I’m going to have to be a guard so I’ve still been working on the handle as it will help me with playmaking
@ChadBeetle10 ай бұрын
@@Jay-tx2wz for personal study, watch the 2022 finals. then watch the series breaking down each game of those finals by the channel “thinking basketball.” i would strongly recommend watching a ton of their content. it won’t tell you how they do it but why. it’s helped me a ton with navigating simple plays that a guard needs to have down pat (especially the pick n roll and it’s variations). as for getting to the rim and finishing: i’m 5’8”, and from my experience, spin moves have a much higher payoff at that level than crossovers. combine a basic cross with a hesi into spin and bankshot, and you’ll get past a ton of defenders. if you’re a point guard, you’re probably not catching passes on backcuts to the rim, so those moves are very useful to have in your bag. if you’re a 2guard, you should still learn those moves, but it’s much more consistent to cut, catch, and rack it. my b if i’m writing too much bro. i started playing late and those are the tips that helped me through that first year.

With the defensive stance the offensive player could rip threw with their arms and get you a foul. Put your arms wide so they don’t have much space to move except for a pass

I would suggest play straight up and move your feet. When guarding push step instead of slide and be vicious with your hands. Should be bouncing and taking away every angle they want to take. If you need examples look at GP, pat bev, MJ or Kobe
