Most people aren't aware there are 3 different types of Stovepipe available. Single, certified single and double wall.

I'd love to install a woodburner in an a 1978 mobile home. Don't know if it's safe. I would like a triple walled pipe, if it's made. I'm happy that I found your video on pipe.

There are stoves that are mobile home approved. There are rules that need to be followed but its doable.

What are the HEAT ratings on those pipes and it would be great if you could show the types of INSULATION for them, especially the one you said you could insulate yourself to decrease the wall distance. Prices of insulation would be a bonus!! thanks great video..

question stove pipe cost to much and is waaayyyy to thin , for my metal pole barn shop I want to use 6 inch by 10 ft 16 gauge exhaust pipe as it's only $110 for a 10 ft piece , I may put an 8 inch piece of heat duct sheet metal around it from the roof up to keep the pipe hot ? would this be unsafe ?

hi, can i use flexible pipe similar to dryer pipe (why not)? the pipe direction is an S shape from stove to sie wall. thanks

Is there a special connection or adapter of some sort to connect the stove pipe from the elbow to the stainless steel Class A chimney pipe? Or do I just connect from the stove pipe directly to the class A chimney pipe?

The class A should have a stovepipe adapter on it.

Quick question. That 22g single wall pipe is perfect for my application but I am not able to find it here in St John's. Could you perhaps point me in the right direction?

We have it here in Corner Brook if you have no luck. Any ICC dealer should carry it.

installed a 6" thimble for my gas boiler and went to put in a 6" stove pipe elbow and it is not a air tight fit, how do you fix this?

Gas is something entirely different.... most of that has a certified venting.

Hi Tin Man, I have a boiler that is fed by an automatic coal pellet feeder. You can also burn seasoned wood in it. The elbow that connects to the stove pipe is corroded after around 3 years and it’s wearing through. What’s the best quality replacement option to prevent this happening and ensuring long life so I don’t need to have to worry about replacing it anytime soon?

The certified single wall pipe has a 5 year warranty and should work better. Double wall has lifetime warranty and should last a lot longer. Only thing with double wall is it needs to be double wall all the way from the unit to the chimney and could be expensive.

@@tinmaninc2023 thanks for the advice. It’s only a couple of meters to the main chimney so the double wall option seems a “one time only” solution.

What is the clearance for double wall pipe with heat shield to a non-combustable ceiling? My chimney inlet looks too high.

In Canada a proper sized heat shield can reduce the clearances by 50%.

But you get a lot of your room heat from the pipe if it's single wall. Double wall reduces clearances but you loose a lot of heat

Double wall actual works better for newer higher efficiency stoves as it helps keep more heat inside the chimney for a better draft.

can you use different parts from different manufacturers, will they fit together properly. And can you put together a double walled elbow to a single wall pipe. Do all the parts need to come from the same manufacturer.

You can't mix and match doublewall with single. You can use this prime with other single wall as both have the same 18" clearances. If using the prime heat shields then I'd say only go prime as they have tested this stuff at 4" for 6" pipe with their shields and regular singlewall pipe with shields needs 9" of clearance.

Where can I buy single wall stainless steel pipe elbows that are corrugated 90 degrees ??? I prefer one piece formed ??? Thanks

Only option for stainless pipe is look for a store that sells stainless liner. The corrugated 90 is going to be a hard item to find.

@@tinmaninc2023 I have a bunch of old steel ones made way long ago. The metal is close to 1/16 thick. Now the metal is 22 or 24 gauge. Paper thick JUNK.

@@allanb52 You aren't making any sense.... double wall stovepipe is stainless and it will last longer then black snaplock stovepipe. It carries a lifetime warranty. Prime single wall stovepipe carries a 5 year warranty and will last longer then plain black snaplock stovepipe.

I noticed you said the welded seam pipe is 22 gauge twice the thickness of the 24, but 22 gauge is not twice the thickness of 24 it’s only slightly thicker.....

To the eye it appears to be double, on paper 24ga is 0.024" and 22ga is 0.030". 18ga would actually be double. The 24ga chinese made pipe isn't actually 24ga anymore. The point is there is a noticeable difference in thickness.

Oh I know the gauges I was just saying it wasn’t double like you said. Many people also think gauge thickness is the same for galvanized, stainless and aluminum, but it isn’t.
