I made a few lamps similar to those. One neat thing to do is stick aluminium foil on the back side, so that you get less light absorbed by the matte wood surface

Love these. I took the concept from the first one, and added two small shelves: one longer one on the bottom for an Echo Dot and BT Speaker and a smaller one on top with a routed slot for a cellphone. It's now the entertainment center and night light for my daughters. They love it!

Great work! You might want to mention that it's usually a good idea to wrap that connection between the LED strip and the controller in heat shrink tubing, because that link tends to shake loose over time.

For more lighting on the last lamp you could add mirrored material and feather out the inside carving a little bit more.

Wonderful video, I just moved into a very small dark apartment I am I’m going to teach myself to solder and do this! My question is if I need to run a long distance of the four wires to extend to different RGB strips can I do this with the same power adapter that comes with one strip?
@jackies_world
@jackies_world 5 жыл бұрын
Depends on length and amount of LEDs on the strip. The power supply may need to go up to 5A vs 2A. Those have a more brick like appearance than a small power supply she's using here.

I find the regional differences of woodworking terms very interesting. You call them 2 by 1's and we call the 1 by 2's in The States. Do you use the metric system in Norway? If so, what are they called in the metric system? Just curious.
@Nerdforge
@Nerdforge 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, we use the metric system in Norway, but strangely we still use the terms 2 by 2 etc. when talking about wood dimensions like this. I mean, when you buy it at the store usually the metric dimensions is what's written on the label, but we always use 2 by 1 etc. in our everyday language. No idea why that is, though.

Is the led stripe adressable ?
@NathanSalapat
@NathanSalapat 6 жыл бұрын
LED strips like this are not, all colors on the strip will be the same color. The addressable version will have three wires, power, ground, and data. If there are four wires, power, R G B the entire strip will always light the same color, or very close anyway, the LEDs will probably have some small degree of variance due to the low tolerances kept in manufacturing.
