Shizuka heads north to a popular location for a day trip out of Tokyo, the picturesque Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture. Well known for its beautiful waterfall and colorful nature, Nikko is also a great place to sample the mouthwateringly tender Tochigi beef! This high-grade wagyu is only available at a few restaurants, and Shizuka indulges in a few fancy meals to check out this celebrated beef.
From a soft and juicy seasonal beef steak to a tenderloin at a historical home-turned-restaurant, Nikko features restaurants that are perfect examples of "yoshoku". Yoshoku is the term for "western food", a Japanese take on western recipes that have become part of Japanese cuisine. The influence of western dishes, and traditional Japanese flavors, have combined to make these Tochigi beef dishes a perfect edible mix of cultures.
FEATURED FOODS:
Sakura hambagu: More similar to meatloaf than hamburger, the Japanese "hambagu" is soft ground beef served in a patty with sauce and toppings.
Tochigi wagyu: The high-grade beef of Tochigi prefecture.
Hayashi raisu: A dish made with rice and a hashed beef-stew-like sauce.
LOCATION
Steak House Mihashi: 1115 Kamihatsuishimachi, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1401, Japan
Meiji no Yakata: 2339-1 Sannai, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1431, Japan
Kanaya Hotel: 1300 Kamihatsuishimachi, Nikko, Tochigi 321-1401•0288-54-0001

I really love this channel. I've been watching for white a while now, and I'm honestly surprised it's still raking in relatively low views. This quality content deserves way more views and subs. Here's to future growth! My husband and I would love to have our honeymoon in such a place, hopefully we can in the future! We'd definitely purchase one of the tours, they seem so curated yet local.

I find myself unconsciously saying "mmm" out loud during Shizuka's satisfying bites, sometimes even before and after, everything just looks so goood, regarding the restaurants though, aesthetics wise, I would say depending on the situation I would be happy to choose either one although I too am blown away by how gorgeous that house is 6:31

What a luxurious dining experience in Nikkō -- quite different from the typical meals tourists have! I used to teach English in Tokyo in the 1980s, and one of our students was the son of the Kanaya family. He was going to university in Tokyo and was studying English conversation so he could converse with guests at the hotel. He always used to tell students and staff at our school to come to the Kanaya Hotel, but even with a discount, it was still too "high class" for most of us, especially the teachers like me who traveled on a tight budget. I think if he was working when we visited Nikkō, we would have stopped by for a meal, but I donʻt remember ever eating A-5 wagyū in Japan. It wasnʻt so well-known back then and the only famous wagyū was Kobe beef, and I think I only had lesser grades than A-5 because it was too expensive. (Nobody talked about the grades then.) Even regular thinly-cut beef steaks cost quite a bit (there was a trade war with the U.S. then), so I rarely ate thick pieces of beef in Japan, and you can imagine how thrilled my American and Canadian friends and I were to see all that abundant and inexpensive kalbi and bulgogi when we visited Korea!

I Saw A Sign Inside The 1ST Place Of My Favorite Beer Kirin. I Prefer Draft. Hamburger With Cheese. The Fancy House Looked Really Old, Well Kept & Nice. The Rare Tochigi Beef Looked So Juicy & So Yummy. Very Old Hotel You Picked For Your Last 1. Looks Yummy Not Nearly As Rare As The Last 1.
