I found an Etsy shop that doesn’t remove background at all but makes a lot of sales. I think because she got designs people like.

Do you think that your sales could be higher if you would have shared zip files with compressed images opposed to pdfs with links to google drive? As some people might be afraid to get scammed, get a broken link etc. For instance, one of the big stores you used as example before is selling 7" by 5" images, which is much smaller size than I get after upscaling and it allows them to be below 100 mb etsy limit. I think they are upscaling the images, but decreasing the dimensions to keep the size small. But I am afraid that if I do that, I may decrease the quality.

I also started an Etsy shop. One month in, about 30 listings but only 8 sales. But I think it is also not the best time to start a store right now since these months are pretty slow in general. I watch your videos for the honesty - so thanks for that. But a couple things - you should address pricing. And how new influx of AI sellers are literally making the prices for digital files a race to the bottom. Now that you know what kind of time it actually takes to create QUALITY files you probably have a better understanding on WHY they should be prices higher. Instead of people selling mega bundles for $3. Also, having multiple shops on Etsy is not against the rules, however you are supposed to disclose your other shops on each shop's page somewhere (announcements or about page) if you do not that IS against Etsy's TOS and you risk being shut down. How many listings do you have?

Personally I've been able to build a pretty good brand doing commissions and I'm getting 2 to 3 commissions every week and it's going great as a side hustle. I probably had pretty good luck at the start as I struck a long term deal with a guy that had a business of personalized controllers. I haven't done any add yet and simply promoted myself through twitter and reddit

With your experience and knowledge now on clipart, what do you recommend for ad spend to be? $5, $10 or more?

Makes sense, you got in early when there was little competition, now there is tons of competition and it doesn't make as much.

Wait, how are you doing the SVGs? Are you just exporting the AI image as an SVG file format? If so, I wouldn’t recommend that way. You’ll upset a lot of designers and it may hurt your sales a bit more. I say this because we use SVGs as vector files so they can be scaled infinitely or tinkered with by the designer(it would be a working design file essentially). But if you use this method of just exporting, the SVG will treat that image as a jpg, which will be useless for their intended purpose. I’d recommend just selling it as a png with the removed background, as an AI image wouldn’t be a working vector file.

Yep at 6:33 folks are LAZY so some will straight up COPY, NOT VARIATION, NOT IDEAS but copy. I found a guy selling the exact same text quote, EXACT FONT, as a much more popular store....the original store confirmed yeah we know they are ripping us, but they just keep going and the bigger store even got write up in a magazine! So the copycats can't keep up usually as they are simply NOT CREATIVE and not hardworking...and this wasn't even mine, it was another shop.

I was suprised that you were that quick previously, as removing the background is the most time consume process in the journey. Automated tools aren't very accurate either like you said. Removing background is quite a basic need for it. Don't get me wrong, it's not hate, but looks like your research phase wasn't long enough. I also tried to convert them to SVG, but just image trace gives cheap vibes and it's not a geniue vector.

Thanks for your update ! I had slow sells too in May... It's a good opportunity to work on the shop, and get ready for the next season. I already have POD sellers buying Halloween stuff on my shop, because they are slowly getting ready too. I think when you sell cliparts, you must be ready very early, before POD and other sellers start to get ready 😂😂😂 Anyway I hope June will be better for you ~~

Don’t forget to add Midjourney fee of 36$ or more (if you are using stealth mode) to your expenses, leaving you with the profit of 80$ 😅 It’s still better than nothing for sure but calculating your rate per hour with everything you do is looking like 2$ profit per day so far…😅

ETSY won't shut down a store that outright copies another store? Any remedies for the above situation? If yes, it seems like it would make an interesting video. I'm not sure if it was the last Etsy Up or if I heard it somewhere else, but apparently, changing the tags (and title) is one of the WORST things you can do, and it only takes effect after 2-3 months. Mainly because Etsy makes statistics on where to best place your items for what search terms, and by replacing some tags and titles you suddenly tell them you don't want to be found for the keywords you eliminated anymore. The algorithm has to start from scratch with its optimization, which slows it way down, of course. I'm also trying my hand at AI-generated art, though I do throw in my own designs and spins very often. I do not get nearly your numbers, though, and I'm still in the negative (yes, I've found your shop, and I also found some of the listing copycats; no, I'm not gonna rat you or any of them out here).

There are so many tools to clone your results on that platform. You spend hours providing unique content and marketing strategies of which are now available to everyone with the right tools instantly. This will be a big reason as to why your business profits just drop as all of a sudden your business has been cloned. 😮

Wouldn't you agree that your decline in sales is largely due to the current oversaturated digital print stores on Etsy. The timeline seems to align.

Worried about competition? That's business my friend, it is inevitable. You are on the internet, copying, stealing, remixing what others do is what this all is. We all have gotten sucked into Social due to so called coolness with tech and convenience. KZfaqrs copy youtubers, everyone follows a herd! Why do you think there are SO MANY of the "dumb ass LOOKING shock faces" on youtube thumbnails? People copy, it's unfortunate, sooner or later. Unless you get into a niche that people think is too daunting to create, and you corner yourself in a market that you enjoy, then you might see the success. I feel your pain my friend! =)

You cannot predict monthly income on these sites. Even photo stock and other sites are very sporadic. The market will be flooded with AI designs since people do not need skills and on top of it the buyers will get financially poorer through the inflation and there will be other priorities regarding one's money.
