Truth be told: redline graphs are cool. In the era of GTO solvers and unexploitable strategies in poker, it's the graphs from highly exploitative styles that standout. In this video I tell you 3 things that are currently separating you from the graph of your dreams, and tell you how to improve your redline.

The video is very good, another important point is the rake, assuming that we put 6 solvers to play with each other using the nash equilibrium (GTO), and we are going to assume 3 different environments, in the first environment we set the rake structure in the PS NL25, in that environment each solver would lose close to 8bb/100 for rake and being almost 6bb in the red line, since when we pass to the environment in the nl200 the rake already drops to 5bb/100, being 3.5bb in the redline, and finally in the NL1k the rake is only 1.5bb being 1bb/100 lost in the redline, sometimes you can have a strategy that you are winning in the redline of your opponents and even so it continues down due to the rake...

I think you made a great point at 7:00 in the video Saulo. I find that I am often in spots where I have a bluffcatcher and I need something like 30% equity (for example) to make a breakeven call. I figure I have around 35% equity in the spot. To be able to make the call, you have to mentally accept the fact that you will be losing 65% of the time. I think many players are risk-averse and find it difficult to make the hero call in these spots. I find those calls hard to make myself.

Thanks for taking the time to make an excellent and useful video. In order to build the solver understanding you mention drills, do you have a recommended site/code? Also, how to build the range composition understandings for different actions without solver access. Hoesntly i find the solver overwhelming, with so many board textures and sizes to remember. But without improving theory, my game will be stuck at 100nl w red line near 0 with the right defend strategy. Thanks again.

1:30 - 1:40 It may be worth sacrificing a better red line for a better blue line (showdown $). If we're getting called more on our value bets with smaller sizings or we're getting folds with larger sizings on our bluffs then deviate accordingly.

Eu sou um player de nl25 subindo devagar (8bb/100 winner not accounting rakeback) mas jogo 5-10k hands por semana (pai e full time job). Mas eu sinto que meu jogo nao ta nem perto de sharp ainda. Thanks, Saulo. Question: a lot of people talk about how overfolding is bad for our red line and winrate, but a lot of people also say that the pool on average don’t bluff enough. So, shouldn’t we still overfold on average? I know there are some over bluff spots by the population (as B-X-B lines or recreational player betting 1/2 pot, for example), but on average people still underbluff and therefore we should overfold on average, right? What am I missing?
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker Жыл бұрын
You are missing that the people that told you pool underbluffs don't know what they are talking about :/
@agnorax
@agnorax Жыл бұрын
There are so many nodes pools overbluff. If its a rec then that exponentially increases. - If you think about how most regs approach spots at low stakes, a lot of their ranges are very weak/capped in spots and over strong in others because they are greedy nits. - You can force villains into nodes that they will have an abundance of bluffs and not enough value. e.g. a lot of vils won't xr enough in single raised pots but flat too many draws and facing a turn check be forced to blfuf river a lot and lack value. - Same spots vils lead most of their air/all of their value and their check range is really really capped to weak mdr, and the highest EV sizing here becomes a slight overbet with range since their range struggles the most vs this sizing due to above leaks. - When vils do XR on wet boards they tend to fast play alllll of their value and also fast play too many high equity draws and not enough trashy draws so their river range is unable to blast off on river blanks cause their blockers are terrible (ie missed combo flush draws) so they burn even more.

@@agnorax Yes, I agree that there are a lot of overbluffed lines. In my comment, I said exactly that (and gave the example of discontinuous aggression lines like B-X-B, and also gave the example involving recreational player). However, I thought that on average across all the lines, what we still had was an underbluff rather than an overbluff tendency. Apparently Saulo disagrees - and I learned from that.

@@ghjk5827 while I'm playing more HU than 6max, historically my thin / wide calls were 0 EV. Which generally gave me a read and a note, as opposed to just folding. Aside from that, I feel like populations do not valuebet thin enough, so there's more bluffs proportionally. Finally, this is player dependent but I find a lot of players too binary in they choices, they either bluff too much or not enough when following whatever plan they had for the give texture. A good example of that in HU is bluffing turn overcards to get people to fold weak pairs...people did it so often, while also checking back Ax Kx on the flop so much, that I started calling down triple barrels vs regs readless on any pair if a turn was an overcard, while also turn check-raising all my floats. Find similar spots in your game and you'll print.

Saulo, I think one reason regs overfold is because the community was taught for years that the pool is under bluffing. Do you think the pool is still underuffing? Specifically I play 500nl & 1knl on ignition. Thanks I’m loving your vids

Is it possible to have a bad redline because you bluff too much? My redline is bad but I bluff a lot and my opponents have notes to never fold to me so i get shoved on a lot on turns etc and have to fold so the redline goes down. And a lot of the time in GTO wizard in general when i check a hand it is saying I played it too agg
@walterpfister7966

I believe bluffing too much would increase your redline but make your blue drop more drastically as you are getting to showdown with weak hands.
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker Жыл бұрын
Not really...people won't have hands to fight back too often, so even if you are getting exploited by opponents not folding vs you, you should still have a decent redline. But then your blueline will sink. As I said in the video, there are many types of mistakes that cause the redline to go down. You can be reasonably aggressive and still have a terrible redline

its sad i think you dont answer any youtube comment, but i will ask anyway, first question is : do you think a GTO bot would have a skyrocket redliine playing nl200~1k?, because every single reg pretty much has a down red line, second question is : at a table , if 3 players have negative red line, does that means the other 3 must have positive red line?, or is it possible all 6 players have negative red line at the same time?, because for me, it seems every player has a negative red line, its almost impossible to "balance", i think the red line is the rake pretty much, thats why everyone has negative red line on average.
@saulocostapoker
@saulocostapoker Жыл бұрын
Yes rake makes the redline worse but the reason everyone has negative redline is just a natural consequence of there existing compulsory bets (blinds). If you are playing theoretically sound you will still have a slightly negative redline. People with positive redlines are exploiting opponents imbalances and/or sacrificing blue line for redline without any EV gain.

Hey Saulo, in terms of overfolding i cant fix my redline haha, i play zoom 200 myself and beat the pool, but last river bluff ive seen was probably in march LOL only a hand full of players have some balls, the rest is just the typical Nit Reg. I think this should be important to mention for beginners, that you can and should also overfold to a lot of players! Nice video as always, you are truly great and refreshing pokercontent on yt ;-) glgl

Mate...I have some good news and bad news for you. The bad news is that you have been overfolding incorrectly in your games :/ most people will overbluff most spots at 200zoom (and also lower stakes), so you are leaving money at the table by overfolding. The good news is that if you can fix that, then more money to you! This will be a hard pill to swallow so I expect you to read this with some resistance. Start researching population tendencies and see with your own eyes so that you don't have to take my word for it! Thank you for the compliments and good luck

@@saulocostapoker Thx for the answer, first of all: i believe you :-D in some spots i have to make more calls for sure! i will try to work on that! But on the other hand you sometimes barley see any bluffs in some spots, so hard to be a station then...and i feel like some regs stop bluffing you or only play value hands if you station them too hard. I called BigStealer nearly in every spot so far, havent seen ONE single bluff...and we played a lot of hands latley. or other regs like Sanctyy or ReadRaise....no single bluff in their range.
