There was study done by the Wall Street Journal about how different exercises help improve balance.
Exercise programs and routines such as Qi Gong and Tai Chi came out on top of the study.
In this video you’ll learn three simple exercises you can do to improve your balance and help prevent falls. They're especially helpful for seniors to improve their balance.
Tai Chi and Qi Gong are ancient forms of exercises that are considered preventative exercises. They help prevent problems before they happen.
By practicing these three exercises, you can help prevent falls before they happen… rather than spend the energy and resources it would take to address the effects of a damaging fall after it happens.
Qi Gong is a mind-body-heart workout. It helps clear your mind, clear tension and tightness, and reduce stress and anxiety.
In this short, 5-min video, you’ll learn:
- Ankle Circles. Strengthen and mobilize the energy and joints in your feet and your legs with this exercise. You’ll focus your life-force energy into your feet to help improve balance.
- Rooster Stands on One Leg. Here you want to stand tall with a nice long spine. This movement takes a little practice, so you can modify it as you need to. There’s no right or wrong way to do this exercise. By practicing slow, graceful, mindful movement, you bring your conscious awareness to the physical qualities you want to develop.
- Pull Down the Heavens. Bring all the energy you cultivated in the previous two exercises into your center.

Thanks again Lee for bringing the message of qigong to older people. Your amazing visibility filters down to the rest of us aging teachers. It's sooo good for our community. You're ability to demystify and bring the practice of qigong, to people who otherwise are not interested in Chinese culture, martial arts or esoteric practices, has been a great influence on my own teaching. I'm a bit older than you and started practicing around the same time, but only decided to teach these last 5 years and your influence has been a big part of that decision. All the best.

Oooh! I did not just enjoy that, I loved it! ☺ Rooster stands on one leg....I think I just found a new favourite move. Such a beautiful flow 😊. I feel great from doing just these few moves! Thank you! 🤗 Can I add a challenge to the first move? Like close my eyes?

That is a great way to work on improving balance. Thank you for all your KZfaq videos. I like your very informative, down-to-earth approach to teaching. Are your online classes for subscribers always live, or are they also recorded, so that people who live in different time zones can access them at a convenient time?

@@HoldenQiGong Thank you. I’ve found my way to your Qi challenge website and have been enjoying the content so far. I will subscribe to your classes from April onwards. I’ve had an (almost) daily yoga practice for the last 23 years, have practiced qigong since September last year, and am fortunate to feel the Qi flow strongly everywhere in my body. Your classes leave me feeling very vital - completely well through and through - and during yesterday’s choir practice I realised that I can effortlessly reach two notes higher than before due to the complete relaxation of the shoulder, neck, throat and head region. That was an unexpected wonderful bonus of the Qi class.
