They did go after the Master Emerald in the games. Maybe these echidnas are just descendants of the original Knuckles clan who are somehow on South Island?

Maybe he turned super once when he found the chaos emeralds and contained the chaos energy inside him once he reverted back to normal. It would explain why sonic specifically said "they can conquer a universe" with his powers. Speed isn't strong enough to conquer a universe. And Sonic's speed isn't enough to reverse time or travel through it. Also this was his first time meeting robotnik. Meaning he wasn't as fast as he is now. He doesn't have the boost yet. those lightning effects could come from the chaos energy inside him. Remember when Tikal chanted "Chaos is power. Power enriched by the heart"? Sonic said he was using his powers to protect his friends, perhaps making the chaos energy within him stronger, maybe that is why lighting was shown in the scene where he confronts a robot as he stands, because the chaos energy within him is growing.

The movie might setup shadow and knuckles in the sequel. Tease Knuckles in the beginning but have Robotnik clone Sonic at the end of the movie from a quill. While we get a laugh with just eyes in a black background in an after credits scene.

Here's the few things I need to know. I thought the knuckle clan was vanguish after pachacama refused to listen to his girl Tikal the echidna. Eggman was the real deal that he can roboticized mobians after the invasion of the entire planet mobius. It's probably because that classic Sonic before he was grown modern Sonic. And not only that but the chaos emeralds, though, we thought they've could add any research on the one thing they didn't put up. And I thought it could be more worlds than just green hill

Maybe he DID have the classic shoes when he was a child, but out grew them and lost them. Perhaps he told the Wachowski's about them and they recreated those shoes to his size. That explains why he looked so emotional when Tom's daughter gave him the shoes. Just a thought.

About the shoes, maybe the trailer’s version is not the final. As for many movies, some things don’t make it to the final cut like Wreck it Ralph 2, the bunny scene was removed as it didn’t fit with the story but was added as an after credit scene instead. So probably Baby Sonic has different shoes in the release of the movie.

Baby Sonic is wearing different shoes in the baby trailer (you have to go frame by frame over his blurred feet). The shoes are given to him for trailers so he’ll be recognizable, but the red shoes with the white laces are the ones he’ll wear primarily in the film. The iconic shoes are given to him as a plot point (I’ve read leaks saying they boost his confidence and control over his power). Also the supposed villain in Sonic’s world is a lizard warrior. If you look to Sonic’s right when he’s in the house you can see spears. It’s my theory that he’s offering the flower to the bad guy in some form of an innocent friendship request, and the warriors guarding the bad guy are aiming their weapons at Sonic who sped past them.

It might have to do with the mural at Hidden Palace in Sonic the hedgehog 3. It shows Eggman vs SuperSonic. That might be the idea where Knuckles wants to prevent a prophecy.

Knuckles maybe look like a tribe, but deep down, he never going too far for power. He just a survivor without the tribe And he's a guardian of angel island alongside with the master emerald. So that no one-- not even eggman or robotnik can had all the power for themselves.

remember in the one infinity war trailer where thanos had 2 infinity stones but the same scene in the theatrical release he had like 4 of them maybe they rendered some scenes with for the trailer with the sonic sneakers and in the actual release all the scenes before the girls gives him the shoes he'll wear the shoes in that one baseball screenshot. as for baby sonic idk but that poster those puma shoes look a lil worn compared to old sonic's puma shoes #sonicshoegate

The shoe issue is probably unfinished cgi, what would have been cool and could still be a possibility is if baby sonic had the Iconic red and white shoes with the Belt buckle like in the video games and not Puma shoes, then when the guys daughter gives sonic his new shoes sonic kinda remembers his original shoes and is able too make a connection between his world and our world

Sonic had his iconic shoes as a baby, then grew out of them, not knowing where to get bigger sizes for those said shoes, gets different shoes, and wears them out over and over, then the daughter gives sonic his iconic shoes, in a bigger size, and when the movie comes out, every scene will have the right shoes for the scene

It's likely they edited the footage to have Sonic wear the Puma shoes to promote the brand where most of the movie Sonic will wear a worn out pair of kicks up until the scene with the girl shows up That's my theory since the movie is more or less a prequel/origin story for Sonic and Robotnik

Ok... I know how to make a theory... First off, you know how Knuckles was introduced in "Sonic & Knuckles" in Mushroom Hill? Ok so what if Dr. Robotnik ends up going there through a ring portal? Think about it! The sequal for the movie can be Dr. Robotnik can end up finding the Echidna tribe and convince them that Sonic is a villain. JUST like how Dr. Eggman did in "Sonic and Knuckles"!!! I have 2 theories. There are either 2 robotniks from different dimensions or the robotnik from earth goes to follow sonic until the end and slowly turns into the robotnik we all know and love.

If I had seen the trailer with the 1rst way sonic was gonna look in the movie and saw the red shoes with no white straps here is how I would have reacted: WAIT? WHERE'S THE WHITE STRAPS? parents: what white straps? Me: In the video games sonic wears red shoes with 1 white straps on both shoes. It's the classic look for the shoes sonic wears because he wears red shoes with a white straps on both shoes.

I think it is different VFX shots that are still being tweaked on but on the final product Sonic might wear different shoes and later get his trademark shoes

For all you fans out there with the sonic shoes theroy I believe paramount is pulling a endgame like adding scenes that aren't in the movie to hide spoilers and making scenes that contradict themselves so know one can find out their intentions it's just like endgame.

There is also one more easter egg when dr.robotnik is chasing sonic down town he passes up a street sign that says Mega dr. Reffereing to the mega drive game system that sonic the hedgehog was on.

I have a feeling why Sonic has his classic shoes in the first trailer was just to show off how much they improved the design but it's not exactly what we'll see in the actual movie. As for baby Sonic having thoughts shoes; I agree with Channel Pup and think when he get's the shoes from the kid It will be a sentimental moment as their just like the ones he had as a baby before growing out of them.
