The Lecture Room & Library London, 3 Stars Michelin run by French chef Pierre Gagnaire and owner Mourad Mazouz. There are few more joyously colourful and lavishly decorated restaurants in London than The Lecture Room & Library. Guests are greeted in an art-adorned lobby by flamboyant staff and led up a fantastical staircase to a glass-ceilinged dome with white leather walls.
French master chef Pierre Gagnaire has adapted his distinctive menu style to create a unique tasting menus. An award-winning international wine list of 1,200 bins is carefully chosen to complement the food. The highly organised kitchen team do an extraordinary job in executing dishes bearing all the Pierre Gagnaire hallmarks: the main ‘plate’ comes surrounded by a number of complementary dishes and before long your table is covered with an assortment of vessels.Each dish combines top-quality ingredients to create exquisite tastes and sensations, excels in terms of structure, composition, elegance and, above all, flavour. Pierre Gagnaire is a French chef, and the head chef and owner of the eponymous Pierre Gagnaire restaurant. Barts, London, Montreux, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Danang, Tokyo, Shanghai and Seoul. There are few more joyously colourful and lavishly decorated restaurants than The Lecture Room & Library. As you’re whisked past the braided rope and up the stairs to the first floor of Mourad Mazouz and Pierre Gagnaire’s 18C house of fun you’ll feel your expectations rise with every step - and once seated in your eminently comfortable armchair, those hopes will be met by an unfailingly attentive team.
The highly organised kitchen does an extraordinary job in executing original dishes bearing all the Pierre Gagnaire hallmarks: the main ‘plate’ comes surrounded by a number of complementary dishes and before long, your table is covered with an assortment of vessels, with each element excelling in terms of structure, composition, elegance and, above all, flavour. I can't stop watching your videos. Love the ambiance! And I was kinda waiting for your to show the beautiful texture of chocolate souffle though. Overall, I'm satisfied 😆❤️🤤

I waited 20 mins this soufflé (fresh made) special Liquid Manjari Ganache with Monkey Shoulder chocolates sauce, smell good, look and taste great. I like it.

I do similar to yourself regarding fine dining. I have been to Sketch and was quite underwhelmed, the food lacked flavour and texture. I like your channel and would be interested to know how you film your content.

@@GourmetBGourmet Tricky, I liked The Fat Duck, I like the personal touch asking and creating childhood food memories very impressive for a three Michelin restaurant. If you haven’t been I recommend La Vague d'Or in St Tropez. Surprised you travel to Europe when your based in America but French cuisine is the best. Enjoy your culinary journey.

My flavour is shellfish from the British coast (scallop) tasty juicy and dessert soufflé. Very good fine dining experience

@@GourmetBGourmet I watch many of your excellent review’s, as an ex head chef I thought this meal was very poor , I’d love you too try the Ritz , can’t remember the chefs name unfortunately, but I think his food is truly out of this world 🌎, I do know what I’m talking about as I was a chef for nearly 40 years inc working at Ramsey first Michelin star ⭐️ Resteraunt, Aubergine in Park Walk Fulham .

It amazes me how the Michelin inspectors can award the 3 stars, when the food I have seen doesn't appear as inspiring as two of my favourite local restaurants Cheals and the Hammer and Pincers which currently hold none!

Went to Pierre Gagnaire's South Korea Location, and felt that the structure of service was so overwhelming having 5 bites all at once followed by another 3 and then 1 then 4 more. it was like being bombarded with plates of food without having time to reflect on what they were or understand and remeber everything thats being described and explained. Which in turn created a very Underwhelming tasting menu that I can recall absolutely nothing from my dinner there.

I want to visit Seoul Pierre Gagnaire, sketch London look nice, but seems one time came many dishes, not easy remember all the name, but delicious and great service, did you visit other wonderful Michelin restaurant in Seoul or Asia?

I'm sure it would still be a good meal, but yes, this looks well short of true 3* standard. I've never been myself but much of what I've read suggests Sketch is easily the weakest 3* in the UK. Quite honestly, the most appealing part for me was the bread.

More than fine dining, it's absurd dining. A whole lot of pretty nothing for a very hefty price I'm sure. No thanks. Give me a classic steakhouse any day. At least you get what you pay for.

No, I agree. The term ‘good food’ is out of control in many cases. Most of the diners are rich rich and have lost their sense of reality, if it’s expensive it’s good to them. Hawksmoor is a good steakhouse, better than Salt Bae. And you can probably go there four times for the same price (It’s so messed up)!

​@@danhewdanhew7612in fairness, that's false equivalence. If you visit Salt Bae's places, you genuinely have more money than sense. Mediocre steakhouse at Michelin starred prices. Salt Bae's style over substance trash shouldn't be compared to Michelin starred restaurants, which offer some of the best food in the world. Sketch is a bad example of a 3*, but I can tell you from experience that there are tasting menus that are genuinely worth hundreds.
