US supreme court "The general rule is that an unconstitutional statute, though having the form and name of law, is in reality no law, but is wholly void and ineffective for any purpose since it's unconstitutionality dates from the time of it's enactment... In legal contemplation it is as inoperative as if it had never been passed... Since an unconstitutional law is void the general principles follow that it imposes no duties, confers no right, creates no office, bestows no power or authority on anyone, affords no protection and justifies no acts performed under it. A viod act cannot be legally consistent with a valid one. An unconstitutional law cannot operate to supercede any existing law. Indeed insofar as a statute runs counter to the fundamental law of the land (the constitution)it is superceded thereby. No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it." Bonnet V. Vallier,16 NW. 885,136 Wis. 193(1908); Norton V. Shelby county,118 US 425(1896).

I am a green card holder, so am a lawful permanent resident in the US, living in Texas. I plead guilty to a disorderly charge in another country 15 years ago, and received a $50 fine, but the maximim penalty could have been over 1 year in prison. The form 4473 has a question that asks have i been convicted in ANY court where i COULD have been sentenced to 1 year or more in prison. It doesnt say any court in the US. As I have been convicted in "a court" (in another country) where i "could" have been sentenced to more than 1 year in prison, does my drunk and disordly charge in another country make me a felon in the US? I have never been in any trouble at all in the US, not even a parking ticket. I want to legally buy a gun in Texas.

The main thing you need to know about open carry is that if you get permitted you have just given your name to a GUN REGISTRATION. Same applies to buying guns from a gun store. They talk about a gun registratoin like we don't have one already and that is rediculous.
