I've used the "hide your poke check" for a while now. Let me tell you how effective it is. It's perfect! Often my team and I have drills where some of us get set-up around pylons as others try to keep the puck and the guys on pylons try to poke it away. I rarely fail to poke check using your tactic. Thank you so much!

Hey guys did you know the businesses and workplaces you are involved in download all your personal data from your cell phone? They download your photographs, recordings of your phone calls and random recordings of conversations you have with others when your cell phone is with you. They have access to all your contacts through social media, email, and phone numbers from your cell phone contact list. This generates everything from the marketing and advertising you see to the news you get, to what you are presented on social media. Your data is downloaded from iCloud and one drive and is listened to and used to find trigger words and scenarios that are used to control the way you think and how you live. Your being mind controlled by it to keep you distracted from what is really going on. Because if everyone is focused on micro aggressions and being forced into the ideologies of the culture they won’t be able to stop government takeover.

Awesome vids guys. I'm second season roller and transitioning to ice next year. Naturally play defense, but have been getting dangled hard. The watch the body is definitely the trick. My main problem I have to work on is transitions when pushing the player to the outside of the rink in the rink and staying with him. Guess I'm not fast enough yet. Made some great d plays with all your video tips though. Thanks.

So I am an adult learner beer leaguer, never been coached or played competitively. Just to establish that I probably don't know what I am talking about. But its my understanding that "stay between the guy and the net" is sort of simplistic and that you really need to stay between the guy and the slot aka house ( or at least, shade a little to that side). Like they say in box lax, dont get beat top side ... If the O guy wants to go down the side - decreasing their angle with every step - let them. That being said, with little kids I just say exactly what you said!

I'm 6'1 and I've got about a 9 foot reach poke check. Hiding the poke check is a really good tactic because one moment they think they have space and then it's "oh shit that's a 9 foot reach poke check" 😂
@jclaxton78
@jclaxton78 8 жыл бұрын
I'm only 5'6, but sometimes play D because I'm a good skater and most of our D-men are heavy and out of shape. But hiding the poke-check is something I've always done and it's extremely effective in my experience. Not having a long stick, I had to find a way to still be an effective poke-checker. Being an agile skater I can get closer to opponents and with the sneaky hide-the-poke move I surprise a lot of players, even some of the best stickhandlers in the league. It's because they don't really know where they can and cannot go with the puck, it throws them off also not knowing how close I have to be to them to reach the puck. Deadly tactic and oddly enough, I think it's vastly underused.

OK, now try these when the forwards are coming to you at top speed, and its a different proposition. Please can you make a video of how to effectively use your body, and how you should be skating to block the forwards drive to net. I play D for years in beer league, and the best I do is to force the guys to skate on the outside. But oftentimes they still outskate me. Sad face.

what are some good ways to get around defenders?
@holobalobalo
@holobalobalo 9 жыл бұрын
Defensemen always have the advantage if they match your speed. Best way to get around them is create a differential in speed that they can't comfortably keep up with and forcing them to transition. If you're not moving noticeably faster than the D, and you don't notice them making any obvious mistakes that you can take advantage of (like reaching with the stick, as in this video, or playing outside the dots leaving the inside lane open) it's usually best to find some room and wait for support in my experience, or dump it in if you really need to. Biggest thing as a forward is to always try to gain the speed advantage before you even get the puck and try to never let the D control the gap as they please, use changes in speed, change your skating pattern etc. Also learn how to attack in layers as a team, so if the first player can't beat the D he can stop and pass to a trailer in order to keep control of the gap.

+Tim Wiebe Get moving east and west and wait for the dummy to *try* to execute a (backwards) crossover. As soon as he (or she) starts to lift their foot, go the opposite way. Not only will you beat them, but they'll be embarrassed to death and reminded about it by their team mates for the rest of the night. It's really a game of see-saw.

@M4rt1ntian
@M4rt1ntian 7 жыл бұрын
They're both very similar. The point of the "watch the chest" or "watch the waist" is for you to not be focused on the puck. I'd tend to lean towards watching the waist as you have a better idea what the other guy is doing with the puck. The important thing to remember is to not overcommit.
